favorite restaurant in nyc – Just go. Try it and you wont be disappointed. Everything from the location to the decor to the staff and the food is fantastic. The prices are not bad either. You will be a beautiful and delicious meal and leave happy. Will be back VERY soon!
best thai restaurant in NYC – I've been to Holy Basil maybe three or four times by now...it's my favorite place to go for Thai. I've been all around the city for Thai and it's always ok, but never tastes like the kind you get from the street vendors or a tiny restaurant on Koh Phang Yang.
Pad Thai is on point, appetizers are simple yet delicious, and wine list is sufficient. Never had a bill over $50, maybe $75 with a bottle of red.
Fantastic date spot. And staff couldn't be nicer.
amazing! – I have been to this place 3 times in the past 2 months and I love it! The atmosphere is very "cool" and the food is excellent. The fried spring rolls and mango margaritas are a must!
Excellent food, great ambience – Very good original Thai dishes and desserts, and polite waitstaff. Worth travelling to the East Village for!
Great Thai food, Lovely setting – We went here for an anniversary dinner and it was perfect. The service was outstanding, the food was delicious. The presentation was amazing - it looked like something out of a food magazine. Perfect place for a romantic dinner.
good thai food – Slightly loud atmosphere - especially on fridays - located in one of the most vibrant locations of new york city - east village - in the location where you would never expect to have a restaurant - holy basil suprises you - great food for both vegetarian and non is a great introduction to thai cuisine. The atmosphere also transfers you from the busy streets of new york city to the remote location of Thailand.
p.s. I haven't been in Thailand as of yet, so my frame of reference of thai food is only restrained to what I've experienced in New York. Though I've visited most of thai restraurants both home style and fusion like.
I LOVE THIS PLACE – I went to this place for the first time last night and I am in love. The food was amazing. The drinks were pretty decent and the prices were good. I don't think that you can ask for more then that. I would recommend a reservation, as it was busy. A must for Thai lovers.
We just keep going back – My wife and I found this place a couple of years ago. Since then, we have been to Holy Basil several times, particularly when someone out of town comes to visit us. Service is attentive, the food is always excellent and the value is practically unbeatable.
Make reservations, though!
Great service, make a reservation on the weekend! – We had excellent service and were seated right away having a reservation. There was a line out the door of people that must not have had a reservation. The food was good-needed a bit more spice and more flavor but was nicely presented and of good variety. We had the green papaya salad, green curry and seafood mixture and fried bananas with coconut icecream for dessert.
