The manicure-and-martini deal can't be beat at this East 14th Street location of the national chain of hipster bars. Head to the back dance room later to throw your sparkly fingers up in celebration.

Beauty Bar=Bad Service + Unsanitary Manicures – I went with my friends last night, and have to say that the bar tender was probably the rudest person I've encountered in years. She grabbed my friends' IDs (instead of asking for them) and when we commented, she threw an attitude and said that she refused to serve who she considered "S#x and the City wannabees" (her verbiage, not mine). I looked over to the dimly-lit area where there were manicures going on, and didn't see sufficient lighting, NOR DID I SEE ANY NAIL SANITARY EQUIPMENT! I saw the nails of a recently-manicured girl in the ladies' room, and it looked like a toddler painted her nails. We ended up going for manicures at a nearby salon, and had drinks at a bar where the people want to "know our names."

WORST MANICURE OF MY LIFE! – So I am new to New York and heard all this buzz about a manicure & Martini... It was time I got a new coat a paint, being that the old one had chipped thoroughly, so I thought what the hell I could go for a drink too. First of all the bartender wasn't even sure if the manicurist was going to show up. I sipped my martini waiting patiently chatting with the owner (they were both really nice). Rachel finally showed and got all set up. I was so excited- it has always been a dream of mine to combine two of my favorite rituals (booze and beauty). Rachel was very sweet and nice, we had a great conversation; unfortunately though she did such a horrible job on my nails that I will not be going back- first of all I didn't even get the hand massage that is part of a normal manicure, she didn't nip my cuticles, and there was polish nearly up to my knuckles. I was shocked especially since she said she was in beauty school. I mean honestly my 6 year old niece does a better job painting nails. Not to mention the fact that she layered on the base, polish, and top coat so thick that now, the next day, the polish is simply peeling off like a sticker- what a mess! The funny thing is that as we were getting started she asked me if I got regular manicures or if it was a once in a while type thing; this makes me wonder if she did such a crappy job because I told her I don't get them that often... doesn't make much sense but all I could figure.

The mani & martini for ten bucks you would think is a great deal but after tips for both the bar and manicurists I spent $17 on a well Martini and a manicure that didn't last through the night. There are several other places in the city that take this task a bit more seriously, I would recommend them as Beauty bar is simply a novelty.

beauty bar? more like ugly bar – Guys, make sure to wear your emo glasses and a patchy beard. Girls, you aren't allowed to have shaved legs. Everytime my ugly friends drag me there, a little part of me dies inside.

Manicures were AWESOME!!!! – This place is AMAZING and the manicure martini ROCKED!!! We had a bachelorette party for our friend there so we could do the "manicure/martini" special and the manicurists - both named Rachel - REALLY took care of us! Not only were they super cool and nice, but we all came out with great manicures with glitter and funky blue nails!! (they also have more "normal" colors too) The drinks were great - I highly recomment the PRELL. As for the lady below who didn't like her manicure, -- ours were great and Rachel (both of them) is really cool. Our manicures turned out great! We had a great time - highly recommended for a girly night out!

Glam Bar – The bar has fun kitschy vibe to it, reminiscient of a 50's hair salon. Naturally this attracts a young NYU crowd who are barely legal drinking age. Remember folks the less you understand a topic the more it helps to not have your own opinion and just follow the flock of sheep, sorry I meant crowd. The atmosphere is pretty hip and the back room can be fun for dancing. However the place does get packed full on weekends. Drinks are good and fairly strong w/ moderate prices. Overall a fun place though a little toowell known for it;s own good.

SAVE YOURSELF!!! – Great idea...TERRIBLE manicurist!! Think her name was Rachel. Holy Sh**! Aside from the sloppy nail painting and the horrible filing job, the manicurist filed my skin open on FOUR fingers. I went in there with long & straight nails and came out being thankful that it was cold enough to wear gloves. To top it off, I couldn't even take the sloppy polish off because of all the cut from her filing.

Adorable. – What a unique idea for a bar! I really enjoyed this place, and had no idea before going in that it literally is a beauty parlor AND a bar...so fun, drinks were pretty good, but the best part of this place is the atmosphere...very fun and girly, but not limited to only the ladies. Good times!

it's a shame... – i and my friends have been coming to beauty bar for Years now. it has always been our default, go-to hang out spot.

but this past friday was just stupid. there was some dancing going on in the back -- which was a total blast. too bad the doorman that night was taking his "power" too seriously. half of us couldn't get in. he claimed "private party" but that's just not the case because new people were coming in all the time.

since when did this cool bar get snotty? puh-lease. stop trying to be something you're not.

Beware of False Advertising and Tough Love Manicures – My friends and I went here for the manicure and mixed drink special last night and I would not go back for a second round. The drink was tasty (I dream of Jeannie Martini) but the manicure end of the deal was not worth it. First we had to wait for the manicurist to take a cigarette break and "check her voicemail." That would have been fine alone because obviously this is not a high end nail salon but then, once we are all seated around the table, she drops "oh and just so you guys know, there is a $5 gratuity for each manicure." Ok, so $15 for a drink and a manicure is not bad but advertising a $10 special is kind of slimy. The manicure was not even enjoyable as she was very rough and just wanted to move us out. If you're a germaphobe, not the place for you -- you rest your hands on a dirty rag and she uses another one to wipe the extra lotion off your hands. If you're a smacking-gum-loudly-aphobe, also not the place for you -- between each manicure she popped in another chunk of Bubblicious and continued snapping away. Next time, have your friend paint your nails. Then go to a different bar.

Great happy hour special, amazingly cool interior – There's close to nothing to compare Beauty Bar to. The darkness, the pink walls, the incense burning to mask the smell of nailpolish, and the closed-off beauty salon in the back.... it's a special place indeed. Ladies, the happy hour special is awesome. Forget those manicure places, which are awkward and boring. This place gives you a drink and a manicure! There can be a wait, so get there early and pay to solidify your spot. While waiting, sit at one of the hairdryers, or sit at the bar and chat with the cool staff. I totally recommend this spot for after-work meetups. It's not so much a date place, but it's interesting to see who goes there.
