L.A.'s best hamburger and fries – The best burger and fries around. I have eaten there many, many times when Julio owned the place and these folks have hit his mustard sauce right on the money. Better bring your appetite cause your gonna get full. OUTSTANDING!!!!!!

Good Burger, Terrible Service – My boyfriend and I went to eat here last November for the first time. There were some people eating outside and no one inside... since it was cold, we decided to eat inside. The girl that took our order was not very friendly. I thought maybe she was having a bad day... or hates couples... or hates her job... whatever, you're working so at least be courteous. Regardless, we thought we'd give it a chance. Our burgers were well cooked which is part of the reason I liked mine. I always prefer my meat well done. I ordered a regular cheeseburger and my bf ordered the Julio burger. We also ordered a side of fries... lots of fries in that order. My bf liked his burger and I enjoyed mine except for the fact that the waitress was STARING at us while we were eating! We were like wtf is her problem?? She not only did that, but was constanly using her phone right in front of us... texting... surfing, whatever... no shame whatsoever... shoot, at least go use it in the back or somewhere your customers are not in sight. My bf was really annoyed that she kept staring at us eat. I tried to keep it positive and looked back at her and smiled...she finally turned, but minutes later, she was back at it again... staring our way. Have you never watched anyone eat a burger?? Or did we have our burgers splashed all over our face?? Lol. Anyway, some man came in around the time we were finishing and she went on and on with him which was okay until she started talking about how she loves any team that will bring her the customers' money. Come on! No need to say all that out loud in front of customers! I really don't care to listen to things like that and normally I would zone her out, but she was about 2 feet from us. Also, it was pretty hard to ignore her when it seemed like she was trying to be loud about it on purpose.

So anyway, we were pretty full and satisfied with the burgers when we left the place, but not happy about the service. Maybe it would have been different if there was a different person working that night. Oh yeah, they only have bottled sodas and not even many choices at that.

We went back last month to try the burgers again. We were hoping that it would be a different waitress. My boyfriend stated that if that same girl was there, it would be a deal breaker. We pulled up and scoped it out. Damn... that same girl! Deal breaker. Too bad.

Julio Burger for mustard lovers! – I start salavating like a damn dog whenever I think of The Bucket. Julio's mustard sauce in my burger and with my fries with a tall cold beer. It's like a summer picnic in my mouth!

Where has Julio (and his burger ) gone? – I used to frequent Julios Bucket about 17 years ago. The atmosphere was like no other burger place or restraunt. All of his food was excellent. It was (and still is) by far the best tasting burger I have ever eaten. However, I went approximatley 2 years ago and it obviously has a different owner and cook. It is just an average burger now. I would greatly appreciate it if someone can tell me where Julio has gone or where I can find his food. Where's Julio?

CItysearch Editorial Review – Though it's had different owners over the years, this pint-sized eatery has tended to Angelenos burger cravings since 1935. In all that time, the restaurant's decor--consisting of little more than beer-promotion banners--hasn't changed much. Happily for patrons, neither has its menu: The focus is strictly on sloppy sandwiches and on-tap beer. A house specialty, the Cardiac Burger, is two patties with lettuce, tomato, pickles, grilled onions, mushrooms, bacon, ham, cheese and mayo; it's impossible to eat it without making a mess. Another special, the Wet Style Bucket, comes topped with "secret-recipe" spicy mustard sauce; a fork is mandatory, as the bun practically disintegrates upon arrival. On the side, fries come traditional or round cut; either way, they're served ample, hot and greasy.

Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy over rated – Ate their last week and cannot understand the excitement.

6 of us went for lunch on a Friday. There were maybe 10 other people at the restaurant but it took 15 minutes before they took our order.

Burger was unevenly cooked (well in some areas and medium rare in others) and the verde salsa was slopped all over and made the bun soggy.

Must say the fries are probably the worst I have ever had -- how can fries get soggy? Onion rings are way overly breaded but still lacked taste.

That being said, of the 6 of us:

Hmmmmm So-so and soggy too – Ok...So i finally tried what some foodie reviewers were describing as LA's best burger. I stopped in for some lunch and luckily they were open. I guess their hours are a bit vague. I ordered the Bucket burger w/chedder and fries. First up let me address the fries. They are described as something between regular fries and a chip. Sounds great but nowhere close. In fact they were soggy, no crisp at all. You do however get a ton of fries, practically an entire white styrophome to go container in fact. I was dissapointed as i was looking forward to some piping hot crispy fries. Perhaps they simply rushed frying them up?? Oh well onto the burger. In short is a typical restaurant burger. Mine was undercooked and slightly raw in the center. Its huge though, large 1/2 pound patties and the toppings were relatively fresh. The burger ordered after me had two slices of cheese on it and mine was adorned with only one. This might have been due to the fact that the fry cook was on a lunch break when i arrived and my order was started by who i assume must have been the owner. I liked the quaint atmoshpere, its a tiny room but it has a nice patio. They also serve beer so i imagine if the food were better, i could see myself drinking a brew outside on a hot day. Bummer. I hoped to like this place because its not far from my work. Truth be told i prefer Rick's burgers to the Bucket. I am not sure if i will go back. Had everything been cooked better and the prices a tad lower it would be on my regular lunch routine. Sadly for $10 and high praise from reviewers i expected more. Happy eating folks.

I love this place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! – Obviously you people have the wrong idea about a real burger stand. I grew up around the Bucket with Julio cooking. Drank one of my first beers on his patio, and that was a long time ago. Glad to see that the stand is carrying on. I hope Julio is doing well. These burgers are the BEST! If you don't think so, you must be a drive-thru kind of person. I am not! This place is about patience, couple of pitchers of beer and the only true burger of it's kind. The hours may be limited, but you need to adjust your schedule to theirs. Because, they have a life too. Mike, Jim and I would love to hook-up and remember the old days of our youth at this long standing establishment. I'll be their soon, please get my burger ready...and some cold beer.

Best Burgers in LA! – The Bucket simply rocks. I try to go at least once a month. Would go more often but it's kind of out of the way in Eagle Rock.

The big beefy burgers are the star of the menu. Get the Cardiac if you're hungry. It's loaded with tons of bacon, cheese, grilled onions, bacon cooked in a deep fryer (trust me it's good), and 2 huge beef patties. The Cardiac is guaranteed to give anyone a food coma. If you're not in the mood to eat a huge burger, the bucket also serves a mild cardiac with only 1 patty.

Personally, I usually go for the mild cardiac, mushroom burger, or the Julio burger. The Julio burger comes with cabbage and a special sauce that tastes like ketchup, hot sauce, and mustard all mixed together. I usually hate cabbage but it gives this burger a nice crunch and flavor. And every burger should be accompanied by round fries.

This place also has a lot of good beers on tap and in bottles. Nobody I have ever taken to the bucket has disliked it. I highly recommend it. A+++

Eat one burger and be good for the rest of the day! – I've been trying to visit the Bucket for a while. For some reason, daytime beers in the outdoors always seems right on Sundays; but they are closed on Sundays + Mondays. We finally got "in" and tried the burgers and they are so juicey and delicious. The place has new owners and they are a riot! The whole family works there and they seem to be perfecting their restaurant biz; by this I mean the service is a little sketchy, but they make up for it in personality. The interior is tiny and has bar seating. The exterior is covered in "Chistmas" lights and banners. Its great to relax, drink a couple pitchers and watch the Eagle Rock traffic go by while you wait for the perfectly grilled burger. Its also a good idea to split an order of fries ... its a nice sized basket. Keep in mind, this is not "fast" food. It almost has a European air about it; you'll have to be patient at this restaurant. Whilke you wait, enjoy the family and their friends. They are very friendly and laid-back. I wish they were open more. (Also, they take MC + Visa now).
