Our experience at Hola! Sunriver was unimpressive at best, with the blah-food and poorly directed staff.

We gave Hola! a try for a birthday dinner. We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation time, but due to the unmoving line at the unmanned host/hostess station, we were unable to check in until 10 minutes after our reservation time. Once we reached the station, the host informed us there were 3 other reservations in front of us for the same time slot. We stood at the crowded bar, which overlaps the entry way, and had a margarita pitcher (the weakest margarita I've ever had) waiting for our table to be ready.

40 minutes after our reservation time, we were finally seated. The host came back a few minutes later to ask if we needed drinks or a starter, and we ordered the nachos. They arrived about 10 minutes later, and, though the size was impressive, the toppings were just average. We noticed we had no silverware, napkins, or small plates; additionally, two pf our 4 water glasses were dirty, one with food particles and one with lipstick. Before we could even ask for new glasses or silverware, the kitchen runner who had delivered our nachos left. Upon finishing our nachos, we still hadn't had our order taken, or even had anyone stop by to check in. Finally, a waitress stopped by to take our orders, and we were served fairly quickly soonafter. Our food was nothing exciting or innovative. We felt that the food was bland and some of the meats a bit dry. We are all for simple food, as there is a beauty to well-prepared simple food, but this was just boring.

For dessert, we had the churros and the bananas foster, which was highly overpriced for the cheap rums used, but I suppose the 6 scoops of ice cream included made up the cost difference. I enjoyed the churros, as they actually had flavor, though my tablemates felt they were too cinnamon-sugary.

I'm not sure if we hit an off night or what, but sadly Hola! Sunriver seems to follow the trend of other Sunriver-area restaraunts of poor service and lackluster food. Perhaps we, native Portlanders, have been spoiled by Portland's competitive food scene that keeps quality high. Overall, we will not be back, unless we want some watered down margaritas pre-paddleboarding or post-horse riding.
