It's Time To Shut Down This Place! – A couple of years ago, this was the place to be if you wanted excellent Mexican food. They must have changed management or lost their deal with the devil because now this place is a DUMP! I can't believe this place has the guts to serve what theY do with a straight face! The salsa was embarrasing - slushy tomato paste with some cilantro. Are you serious? Then, the icing on the cake -- the server put my meal down with a warning of "it's a hot plate." So, of course I touched it and the plate was blazing hot. Why then, were the beans ICE COLD? Disgusting and, honestly, any Latino restaurant establishment that doesn't know enough to serve HOT beans should not be in business. My burrito was barely warm, and my lunch guest swore that her cheese was sour. It would've been great if there was a server around during our meal to complain to but it was 20 minutes before he reappeared. When I told him about the beans, he touched the underside of the plate and began to protest. He also denied that my friend's cheese was sour. ????? I told him the entire experience and food was unacceptable. DO NOT EAT HERE!
Tough Beef and Slop on a Plate – Just had dinner at Maryann's and it was packed with people. They have far too many tables in the restaurant. I understand attempting to maximize the space, but it's ridiculous. We couldn't get up from our table without disturbing the couple dining next to us by asking them to get up to make space for our exit.
The crazy part about the fact that it was crowded is the food was absolutely horrible. It was basically Mexican slop on a plate. I order the beef fajitas. The beef was completely overcooked and it was a tough cut of meat to begin with. It was like chewing on beef jerky. Surrounding the tough beef and peppers & onions on the plate was a sloppy pile of rice, beans, guacamole, melted cheese and lettuce. Just one big mountain of slop. Even the tortillas were terrible. They broke in half the second they were filled with the slop.
I have NO idea why people go here. There are so many good Mexican restaurants within 10 blocks of Maryann's. I am completely bewildered.
If you enjoy tough beef and slop, you will love this place.
Reliable, solid Mexican – Always dependable, some interesting dishes, not expensive. Good for families or groups. Can be loud, but it's part of the festive atmosphere.
INSECT INFESTATION! – Went with a group of friends on a Friday night. Small place, but seemed like fun. Then our waitress put down a basket of chips- and a huge little legged insect (you all know what kind I mean) comes scurrying out of it! While trying to get it off the table, another one is crawling up the wall next to us! The waitress comes over and apologized by saying "It's New York City. What do you expect?" We never got to taste the food but I think the insect infestation makes it safe to say "avoid at all costs!"
Waste of Time and Money. Don't Get Your Hopes UP! – I ate there and the food had no flavor whatsoever. the salsa was a can of tomatoes with no onions no spice - NADA! The service was lousy because none of the waiters would speak english. I got the hell out of there the fastest I could. Bottom Line - if you don't have any high expectations of good food, service or quality or taste then you won't mind wasting your time or money on this hole.
worse place to enjoy a dinner out – Just tried this place a few weekends ago. The hostess was not existent although there were clearly a group of about 10 employees in the back chatting with each other, not paying attention to customers. After about 10 minutes, we were seated - in the back - though there were plenty of window seats in the front available. After sitting there for about 15 minutes and trying to get eye contact with the many employees doing absolutely NOTHING in the back, we still were ignored. We finally left and now I'm writing this awful review because, essentially, they have no business operating a restaurant. This place truly sucked!
eat at Chiptole for better service – We went on Wednesday night the place was busy. The food was okay nothing to write home about but they were stingy on the serving. If I am paying $13 for an entree I want to see the chunkys of chicken. MOST DISAPPOINTING WAS THE SERVICE...THE WAITERESS WAS PLAIN RUDE. My friends was kind enough to leave her $6> I would have left her $0 and wrote her a rude comment! Never will I go back and would recommend anyone to a fastfood joint.
Horrible – If you want Montezuma's revenge, then eat here. It is a cash only restaurant. No credit cards. Mushrooms on everything, even when not specifically listed on the menu. Terrible food. Will never go back.
Decent place, nothing great – I work nearby and have eaten here a cuple of time. Decent food, good service, reasonable prices. Worth eathing at if you want Mexican food, not really worth going out of your way for it though
Fabulous!!! – Home made style Meican food, the best margaritas and cheap prices, make the best of Maryann's.
