Great Pizza – This restaurant features great pizza, delicious pasta and a nice atmosphere. It's one of my favorite places to get Italian food in the West Village. It's easy to get to and the prices aren't bad either. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Old Faithful – My husband and I frequent Gonzo at least twice a month, and as other reviewers have said, it is a wonderful place to bring friends and family....there is something for everyone on the menu. Every menu item comes in a generous portion. The pizza is fantastic, and every pasta is fresh, piping hot and delicious. They have an amazing pre fixe deal that does not skimp on portions or flavor, and it is only $30. They tweak their menu seasonally to make space for ingredients that are in season. Their butternut squash soup in the winter is notable. My favorites on them menu are the arugula salad, the rigatoni with meatballs, and the homemade chocolate pudding. The Italian wine list provides an excellent selection, and the staff are able to recommend wines readily if you are not familiar with the menu. I have had excellent service every time I have been here, attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. The only downfalls are that it is not open for lunch and it can get loud in the back room during dinner rush times. Get there on the earlier side for a more private, quiet dinner, around 6:30.

My Local – I don't usually write reviews, but I have to tell you Gonzo is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. You can always count on them for a great meal. Their pizzas are amazing. So thin and crispy because they're cooked on a grill. And you can't go wrong with their pasta, especially the papperdelle with veal ragu. The other thing I really like about this place is that the menu appeals to everyone, not like some restaurants with menus so limited you might find one thing you like. I can take anyone here and know they're going to find something they like. In these tough economic times, I don't want to waste time or money going somewhere I'm inevitably disappointed. I know if I'm dining at Gonzo, I'm going home happy. This is why Gonzo has been around for over six years and has definately become my LOCAL.

Great place for a casual dinner – Ate at Gonzo last night for the first time and I really loved it. I don't know how I missed this place for so long. I'm in the West Village all the time, but it is kind of hidden on 13th Street. Anyway the food was great. We had their "famous" grilled pizza, which lived up to it's hype. Also, the penne gratin was fabulous, although I took half of it home because I was stuffed. It's very rich. I still however managed to find room for a delectable brown sugar cheesecake. The other thing I really liked about the place is the warm friendly feeling. It might not be 4 star service, but the staff is very nice and go out of their way to make you feel at home. It also doesn't break the bank, which is really good considering the economy.

Nice Saturday Night Out in the Neighborhood – My friend had reserved a table for th 4 of us at Gonzo. It was a great pick. We didn't want to leave the neighborhood and didn't want to go to a place where we had to dress to impress and walk out hungry. The food was simple but delicious and the staff was friendly and unpretentious. Only things that disappoint: no wine glasses and it did get very loud. But all-in-all, a nice place to go to in the Village when the food is more important than the bling.

Greatly overpriced and hardly a traditional Italian restaurant – Not an experience that I will cherish to say the least. I don't understand what people see in this place. Is everyone that deprived of quality Italian food. I spent $25 for veal palliard which was decent at best along with a summer corn and tomato salad that turned out to be nothing more than a plate of corn for $13. The menu was very limited and with the exception of a few pasta dishes there wasn' to much Italian-prepared dishes on the list. Geez....I've had better at grandma's house. Won't be back to gone-zo.

Gonzo NOT Gone Yet !! – I have been going to Gonzo since it opened. Sure , it has lost a bit of it's edge since Chef Vinny Scotto "Left The Building" but it's still the best in the neighborhood.

The restaurant is still "in the family" and I think that Vinny's sister has done an admirable job of keeping the quality up there.

Anyway, enough about those (fabulous) pizzas... Why doesn't anyone mention the Amazing pastas (Veal ragu or Clam pasta are my favorites) or the short ribs (great even in summer) Also, I never fail to find a new and interesting wine to go with my meal.

Sorry naysayers, In my experience, it ain't over for Gonzo yet !

Great Food, comfortable atmosphere – I had a really nice meal last night at Gonzo. I hadn't been there in a while and was missing their great food. I had the corn & tomato salad and the shortribs and my friend had a meatball pizza. We sat outside and had a really lovely evening. It's so nice to go somewhere that you can depend on always being good. I'm so sick of going to mediocre places and spending lots of money for the privelege.

Slipping... Badly – I used to love this place. But since the death of the Chef / Owner last year, it seems that the owners feel it is OK to let the cooks run the kitchen. (This is usually the first sign of a restaurant's demise). This was a Chef-Driven Restaurant ! Although it would be difficult for anyone to fill Chef Vincent Scotto's shoes, this lovely spot deserves better. I live in the neighborhood and have given it 2 chances in the past few months, both were disappointing. EVERYTHING was overcooked and under seasoned EXCEPT for the pizzas. When I asked my server who the chef was, I was told: "We Don't Have a Chef Anymore, It's Just the Kitchen Guys, But the Food is Still Great" I beg to differ. Also, the Manager could be more friendly and less condescending. She does NOT make one feel welcome. A terrible shame,

I actually feel bad posting this. (I RARELY post reviews at all)

And, yes, I am in the restaurant business.

Nice Spot...Still Good – I've been going for years, always good.

Great wine list too. What can I say that has not been said about the amazing grilled pizza's ?
