You have to go – These days I’m all about affordable clothing – if it looks great. I’ve been a fan of H & M for years, but it doesn’t always have the style I’m looking for, so I was really pleasantly surprised when I walked into Zara’s, which has a European flair, at a great price break. They have a fab women’s department chock full of summer dresses, shirts, slacks and bags.

While some stores only have a few items, Zara’s has lots of stock on hand, in lots of sizes, which makes shopping a breeze. But the men’s department is also really super, I left the store with a few dresses for me, and a shirt, slacks and a couple of belts for my brother, and spent just $190.

But I suggest checking it out on the weekdays, instead of the weekends, when it’s super crowded, but even then the staff is really friendly and helpful!

Worth Stopping By! – A few years ago I was slightly dragged in here by a Fashionista. My first thoughts were, everything looked expensive but in reality wasn’t. My second thoughts were seemed like it should be a great store, but you really have to dig to find something stylish and worth buying. After that I have gone quite a few times and don’t get me wrong, I love a lot of clothes here, but it is tedious finding something worth buying. Jackets or coats may be your best bet. If you do find something, you’ll be blissfully overjoyed by the different style and fit. I’d skip over the bland and pricy clothes, which unfortunately sometimes fills up the store. However, on occasion you do find something cute, and if you get it on a sale, it’s a bargain!

If you stop by here on a weekend, overall it’s a bad mistake. On weekends I have seen clothes everywhere, lines, people, and trying to get help is a challenge. Look carefully at the clothes here. It could get messy and you sometimes will pick up a damaged piece of clothing without knowing it. I do have to boast that one of my favorite maternity shirts was from this store and yet and it wasn’t an actual maternity shirt. Sometimes their diverse styles fit different body types.

This store is a step up from H&M. Slightly better with quality of clothes, somewhat stylish, and could be inexpensive if you look hard enough. I advice stopping in here every so often, you may possibly find a favorite in your attire.

After 4 years, they've lost me as a customer. – After having been a loyal shopper to Zara's for 4 years, I will never purchase their clothing again. I've never been especially impressed by the quality of their clothing, but I like their fashions. I've purchased quite a few items that did not hold up well, even though I handwash them and never put them in the dryer. Also, finding my size in their clothing is not always easy, since they never seem to have tops in small.

However, when I was England earlier this month, I purchased a coat which I wore 3 times during that trip. The morning of my last day there, the lining ripped and the sleeve was already separating from the shoulder on the one side -- I only wore the coat to walk around. I figured I would return it once back in NYC, since I didn't have time my last day of vacation to search for a Zara's and return it.

When I went to the Zara's on lower 5th Avenue, the manager who assisted me was not only rude and unhelpful, but she displayed no sympathy for the $121.00 I had wasted on her company's poorly crafted clothing. She told me that I could not return it because I had purchased it in England, even though they're an international store. I asked her repeatedly -- and politely -- to somehow help me. She refused. I had asked her to provide me with the name of someone at Headquarters who could help me, she finally relented that maybe someone there could help me and gave me their number.

I've called the woman at the headquarters for 3 weeks and still have not received a response. They obviously do not care for their customers or the quality of their clothing. I'm ready to show up at Headquarters and demand a refund for an item that should not have ripped just from walking around in it. They have the worst customer service I have ever encountered.

Zara is a great addition to the world of fashion – Zara has a great line of clothing which is well tailored

original and one step above the others

The stores for most part are artistically designed so you feel you are entering

into a great experience

the line of clothing for women touches most ages

i loved the simple black dress with the yellow jacket that I bought

they are classic pieces

This Spanish chain beats its competitors to the trendy punch. – In Short
Like its European brethren H&M, Zara makes affordable basics with a twist, like a wider neckline or a lower-slung belt. But this is no average chain: Zara designs, makes and sells all of its own wares, giving it the ability to react quickly to trends. If a tunic-cut blazer sells out the week it hits the floor, Zara's manufacturers will help them restock in weeks rather than months.

Terrible In-store Experience – Just wanted to share my terrible store experience at Zara Herald Square, NY. I went into the store and spent 10 minutes browsing. Just as I was leaving, the alarm went off. The security guard was extremely rude in handling the situtaion. He checked my backbag finding that it was clear, and then checked my wallet, which was so small that it could hold nothing but credit cards. Then I walked back into the store to talk to the store manager about the guard's behavior, but she was as rude if not more. All she said was that Zara had the right to check their customers' belongings. Frustrated with her attitude, I decided to leave the store, only to be stopped by the security guard again, who this time started threatening me so that I would let him find what it was on me that made the alarm go off. Just as he was going to examine my clothes, the store manager told him to let me go. Clearly, these people are unaware of how to treat customers properly. After this experience in the store, I am determined not to go to Zara ever again.

great! – I love this store! I'm from a small town in NC in the city for 2 months to train and I discovered this store walking down 34th street and I'm an addict! I cannot leave without a bag in my hand from there. I am a very small framed person and the dress shirts are the best! The fitting is fabulous and they don't have to be stretch, they are just normal shirts with the perfect fit! I'm stocking up b/c some of their things are classic and when I go back to NC, I can't shop there anymore:-(

Poor Customer Service – My sister bought two jackets and I wanted to get the same thing. Called the 101 5th Ave. store to confirm the availability and the size. The store manager was unwilling to assist and told me to get a style number from my sister. I told her the color, what it looked like and the price and she didn't know what I was saying and stated that she could help. I asked her for the store head quater number and was gladly provided to me. When I called the headquater to explain my unsatified customer service the operation manager was on the phone and was not able to return my call.

Viva Moda ala Hispaña! – I've noticed that I've made several purchases at ZARA for the last couple of years and veered away from Banana Republic. Someone told me that Zara is like the Banana Republic of Spain. Well, if that is the case then Zara makes a better fashion statement. I have grown to love the dress shirts, funky graphic tees, sweaters and all other items have accented my staid Joe Average wardrobe into Euro Chic. Plus the prices are surprisingly affordable. I'd rather keep this imported chain very much underrated. Keep it quiet and keep me looking very fashion slick. One caveat though, those pants sizes are really Euro-tiny! Up the sizes please for the American waistline!

A must-go in Soho! – I have to admit I like the selection and size of the Upper East Side Zara much better; the Soho store is so popular that often the selection is picked over. However, the staff is incredible friendly and helpful and more than willing to call the other store if you are looking for an item. It is usually very busy, but I can't praise the staff enough for their cheerfulness amidst chaotic shoppers. I say to go to both stores to get the full spectrum of a pleasant shopping experience if you can- just hop on the subway uptown and you're there!
