Somewhat Pricey and Short-Staffed – More up-scale than our usual bar, more of a restaurant than a bar. Two cuisines... one ori- and one occi-. The ribs side dish was REALLY GOOD. Not much of a beer selection, though they do have Anchor Steam (in bottles). At 9PM, the place was really crowded, despite (because of?) the thunderstorms outside. It thinned out a little later, but there's no way of knowing.

The beer is NY high normal ($6-$8). The food costs around $15 a main plate. Some more, a few appetizers less. Most of the food is very good, although portions are on the small side. The staff is very professional-- when they're there. They also seem much overworked. Sometimes you'll have to run around to find a server, get yourself some menus, or more napkins. Don't be shy. --Drink Club NYC is a roving group of NYC Drinkers

A crumby diner, dressed up trendy to rip you off – And on top of that, they work some of the sneakiest rip-off moves on their deliveries: The only place I've ever seen that charges a fee for delivery! and it's frickin 15%! AND the muppet delivering it was pissed that I didn't tip him on top.

PLUS, they add $0.75 to every dish they deliver. What a scam.

Of course, no mention of any of this on their website, or when you call to order.

My one subsequent visit to the place confirmed my suspicions... terrible, aloof service and barely diner-quality food.

Another typical, sub-par Soho rip-off merchant.

It Sucketh – I went to this restaurant for brunch and when I told the manager that the lettuce was, "past its prime", it was to avoid saying, "there is icky goo on my plate that is posing as lettuce. It is green-black and nasty". When the manager told the cook, he laughed. WHERE WERE YOU GORDON? This was truly a nightmare.

$17 CANNED TUNA @ NOHO STAR – I must be a glutton for punishment. I have been to Noho Star perhaps 4 times. All times, I have come back with a lousy experience with food, service and the ambiance of this over-rated restaurant. Perhaps, it is its location, and my partner and I always happen to find parking around this place. After shopping, before or after a movie, and the urge to use the bathroom, this place stands on the corner of Lafayette and Bleecker like the only option. Yesterday's experience (others have included tainted food) was a $17 salad, Tuna Nicoise. Before ordering, I reconfirmed with the waitress if it was fresh tuna and she said, "YES." Out she comes with a salad with canned Tuna in a bowl. I was aghast! But, I know from my previous experience that it is absolutely pointless to argue with these people. They don't care! The manager is also quite vicious. By the way, did I mention that their breakfast Bloody Mary's are $12 a pop? They are kindda bad, soupy gazpacho, with massive amount of chopped red onion. Totally not cool. Eat there out of desperation, if you must. I'm THROUGH WITH NOHO STAR!

GREAT BURGERS BUT . . . NO FRIES?? – We had terrific burgers last night.....but despite their steep price, they didn't come with fries.....that's quite unheard of, even in NYC . . . . .a tasty small side salad filled the void on the plate......we ordered the fries ala carte and they were -- fortunately -- worth the price......the hostess was delightful, the waitron unfocused and distracted but at least pleasant when we could get her tableside.

Always a great experience – Whenever we come to New York we end up here for breakfast. Their food is not only good, but also creative. Take for instance their Oatmeal Creme Brulee. It is something out of this world. The service cannot be any better, The staff makes you feel right at home. We definitely recommend it.

Terrible – My friend and I went for brunch here last week. We waited 30 minutes for our food to arrive. We couldn't find our waitress anywhere so I told the hostess that we had been waiting for a very long time for our food, (people who had come after us had already been served). She went around asking every server in the restaurant if they were serving our table. They all shook their head no. Our coffee by then had gotten cold. A server actually came up to us and said , "Your food will be out in a minute, do you still want it?" What??!! When our food was served, they promptly placed the bill down as well. OK clearly you don't want us at your establishment. I complained to the person who looked to be the manager. She said, " Well you've only been waiting for about 20 minutes actually. And it is customary for the bill to be placed down with the food." Since when? and all the other patrons there received their bill after they were done eating.

Disgusting behavior and service.

So overrated and overpriced – This place is expensive and the portions are tiny. The food is not special. The atmosphere is what you go for.

how bad can it get – I had had been over 5 years since I had eaten at the Noho Star, and I was in the neighborhood on a date recently in late 2007, and we we're hungry. I thought: Hey, l know a good restaurant nearby!

I was so wrong!

Terrible food. My date had the overpriced, flavorless, bland and uninspired chinese salmon. The bun of my turkeyburger was stale. All of it was just way too much money.

The worst those was the service. Horrendous comes to mind. Late, unattentive, uninterested, moody, miserable are just a few of the adjectives I would use.

I've wondered why there's such a difference in reviews on this site. People love it or hate it!

I used it at the Noho Star usually for breakfast and lunch. I haven't ever really been there for dinner before. Could that be it? Stick to the daylight hours? The Noho Star vampires come out at night?

Has it changed over the years? Possible.

Let's leave it this way...

As of late 2007...

Terrible food...

Terrible Service...

Outrageous prices...

I'll never go by there again! I felt robbed !

Grossest Smell in the city – I've lived across the street from Noho Star for 3 years now, and everytime I walk by it, the grates right outside emit the most horrid stench I have ever smelled. I've eaten there twice, to give it a chance, and the food is just okay. Now that it has that smell coming from it's kitchen, I won't even walk by anymore. I always cross the street and actually go out of my way so I don't have to smell it. If the smell is bad, can you imagine the food? Do not go here!!!
