Now you're speaking my language...Japanese that is. – As soon as you step in the first thing you hear is "Konbanwa" as if you entered Japan without talking the gruesome day long flight. The school is soo Japanese and this is just what the doctor ordered to get the fluent juices flowing to build my language skills.

My instructors are pretty down to earth. I first started out with a female who adjusted her teaching style just to cater to my personal needs, which I find very thoughtful. My new instructor also does the same. With that said the instructors are "down to earth".

Anyhow the school is very modern and has reasonably sized classes. Best of all its not to far from Union Square so I have plenty of time to enjoy the city, while studying.

Conclusion, if any of you so desire to visit, work or live in Japan I definitely recommend Tenri. Whether it be language, are simply cultural TCI has it ALL.

Love it! – I started taking Japanese classes at Tenri Cultural Institute almost a year ago, and let me assure you that my experience there has been most pleasant. The classes are very well taught and I love the fact that the classes are small. The teachers are extremely helpful when it comes to explaining the difficult aspects of grammar you'll come across as a student of Japanese. There is also a library available to students. Also, the facility is extremely visually appealing. It's located in Greenwich Village and is a short walk away from Union Square. If you are interested in taking up Japanese, I highly suggest this school.

Learn Japanese? – Went there for a Japanese class which lasted for 3 months (because I quit later), found the location to be very strategic, but didn't make up for the lack of education it provided. I was enrolled in one of the "advanced" class after an interview, which is weird to begin with, because my Japanese is not even THAT good (good enough to converse, but not good enough to read a novel). The classes were taught by Japanese teacher, who for some unexplainable reasons, didn't seem to speak English. So we basically talk to each other with..er..an electronic dictionary, which I don't find very accurate. The class pace is also too slow, 1 chapter was usually finished in 3 weeks. The atmosphere of the place is very relaxing though, and they have a couple of cultural events every now and then, and every students are encouraged to attend, for FREE!
