Door Man/Bouncer Is a D-Bag (Fat Guy in Goatee) – So there's this Fat Squaty Door Man at Groove, and he'll be sure to give you an attitude & a snarl when you enter.

So anyways, I'm in the club, I get a phone call, and I go to the "lobby" to talk b/c it's quiet there.

Another Woman was there to do the same thing.

Fat Squaty Bouncer Guy waddles in from the outside and says we can't be there on the phone.

Apparently the lobby of Groove is not located in The United States of America - It is not a free country in the Groove "Lobby."

So the Woman tells the Fat Squaty Bouncer that she's saying goodnight to her son.

Fat Squaty Door Man says "I don't care - you can't talk on the phone in here."

Understand that NOBODY in the club can hear anyone in the "lobby" - the club and this "lobby" are separated by doors.

So what's the deal?

Fat Squaty Door Men have small you know what's, and they take their anger out on Mom's saying goodnight to their children.

I guess Fat Squaty Door Man didn't get any love from his mommy when he grew up, and now Groove has hired him to be an A-hole to guests.

Great Job, Groove,

There are many of us who won't be back.

Try The fat Black Pussy Cat across the street instead.

The Bouncer even smiles there.

MUSIC COOL - DOOR MAN not too Cool! – My girls and a few friends came up to this place. They have a doorman (if thats what you call him) who is just completely rude!!. My girls hes cool to (sometimes) but my guys who I brought he was totally opposite. The guys at Underground and Cafe Wha and other surrounding venues just check the ID and keep it moving. This EGOTISTICAL dude has to take checking ID to another level and is going to give the wrong person a hard time.

Maybe consider a better quality person (maybe) even management on Thursdays. Just because you're at the front door doesnt mean you use that "power" to give people hard times who just want to come out. My guy friends said they will never go back. Probably me neither. Just because hes at the front doesnt mean hes ALWAYS appropriate. You have to watch the quality of people you hire to GREET guests in a professional manner.

Party on!!!

Great Times – I try to make it to Groove everytime I'm in the West Village. If you love live R&B/Funk/Hip-Hop/Soul then there is no better place to try...doesn't really matter the night of the week. Drinks are reasonable and the small cover charge is worth it. The tables are tightly packed and the bathrooms are a little shaky but you came here for the music right? Def worth checking out.

Groovin All Night Long ;-) – Off the hook!

Went there with a date 2 weeks ago. Tight space is the only down side. Mixed crowd. Totally unpretentious and the band was banana's! Typical NYC drink prices but the finger foods were exceptional! I'll be back.

Indeed a great time!!! SLAMMING BAND!!!!! – We went to the bar not knowing what to expect. We had a great time; the band was wonderful, entertaining and fun. Drinks were priced ok, and the food was actually alright for bar food that is. We had such a good time at Club Groove. Whenever I go back to New York, or if someone ask me where to go I will definitely tell them to check out Club Groove they will not be disappointed at all.

Great Changes – My boyfriend and I go to Grove at least once every couple of months and we always love it. They now charge $5 to get in depending on the band that is playing that night. They also have available table seating which there is a two drink minimum. The drinks are reasonably priced and bartenders always try to accomadate you. They offer a food menu now at the bar and the tables. The live music is alway great, and the mix crowd is a bonus. They are stepping thing up for the better, they just need a large space.

Always a good choice – I always have a good time at Groove. I have yet to come across a band that wondered why they were there. Drinks a reasonable in price, service is reasonable and the crowd is always laid back and there for a good time. Anytime I just want to get out or feel it's too early to turn in Groove saves me.

Not impressed the first time... – I really liked the ambiance at Groove. We were able to get a table for three right off the bat, the music sounded like it was going to be good...then the band sang their first song boy, was he awful!! Plus, he sang with his back turned to the audience most of the time and the persussion was a bit hard on the eardrums. Maybe we hit the place on an off night, but I think whoever books their acts should be more selective. Other than that it seemed like a cool place. We left after the third song of the first set however...

Rahj and Groove House band! – I've seen Rahj perform quite a few times. Its actually been over a year since last I've seen him. I went this past Saturday. And he is still rocking the house. He used to perform at 101, but they closed. The stage seemed a little small and he wasnt able to move about and dance like he used to. But the vocals, song selections, and band were awesome!! Rahj also plays guitar. Something I've never seen his do before. Very impressive. He and his band are truly talented. I reccommend going to see this band at The Groove. They cover many music genres over many decades of music. Anyone would benefit from seeing their performances.
