Great choices – Although they've recently raised their prices (by about 10-20 cents), Tai Pan still offers a great deal for pastries, bread, drinks, and food. I usually get the coconut buns and the chicken curry buns. The bigger cakes (for birthdays or parties) are also very good and cheap compared to other stores. They also have good coffee and tea. The place is always crowded but the checkout girls are usually fast and the lines move rapidly. You just have to be aggressive and flag down the person who doles out the bread for you. I've been frequenting Tai Pan since I moved to NYC in 1998 and am always satisfied with their products.

Love it – I love this little bakery. Teh plain sweet buns are only 60 cents each and the bubble tea ia great. The luines can be long and slow moving though and sometimes yo're a bit jostled but overall the experience can't be beat in terms of price. There really shold be more seating though.

Extremely Popular – This IS the most popular bakery in Chinatown. You won't believe how many people you will touch unintentionally, once you step in it. They make incredible pastries, although a bit more expensive than smaller bakeries in Chinatown. If you happen to visit the place during mid-autumn festival (September or Octorber in Lunar Calendar) don't miss to stop by to try their "icy-skin" mooncakes made with greentea paste, fruits and bean paste. They are special treats for the holidays. Chinese locals line up in the store and they are sold out fast!!!

one of the best deal in town – Good value, delicious, but too crowd if you are there during one of their many rushes.

Wonderful! – I tried out Tai Pan a couple days ago, and was impressed by the variety of patries that they offer! I randomly ordered three types of bread-buns (one with taro filling, one with BBQ pork filling, and one with egg and onion wrapped outside), and all three tasted great. The price was reasonable as well - $0.70 each.
