Rocco's, yes please! – We spent a week in NYC and hit up Rocco's 3x's, it would of been more but we were staying in midtown. The first night we thought we'll take a box of sweets home and enjoy them with coffee in the morning, just after we enjoy one in the shop. One turned into so many we no longer needed the box to take the rest with us. The man behind the counter chuckled at us as we were leaving when he asked what happened to our box. The shop is always bustling especially after dinner time. I especially like the back room with the exposed brick. They are open till midnight, so you can go to dinner, take a walk to make room and head into Rocco's for dessert!
Don't go rude staff subpar pastries and nasty coffee. Don't believe the hype.
Best cannoli in NYC - end of story! – The atmosphere can be a bit rushed - but this place has the best cannoli in NYC. Trust me...I have tried them all over the city and this is the winner!
Example: great place for good bread – everything looks amazing and the cheesecake was so tasty. The only drawbacks were it took a while to order and even longer to pay.
Best Service is not good business – Went to Rocco's at just before noon on a Friday to buy some pastries. The place was empty. I stood at the counter for 10 minutes and no one came over to help me. There was an male employee behind the counter having a coffee and pastry who looked at me and then kept eating. The waitress was talking on her cellphone the whole time. I guess they do so much business they can afford to ignore customers. I went to the bakery directly across the street on Bleeker and got some wonderful pastries and the staff were very nice.
Excellent italian pastries!! – I have been going to Rocco's for many years and I have to say it is one of the best places in NYC to get Italian pastries. Everything is homemade and the Cannoli's are hand filled to order. They also have the best homemade Italian ices in the summer. If you are in the area (Bleeker and Carmine) definitely give it a try!
best looking worst tasting food EVER! – The place was empty on a Saturday morning which should have said something, but the window displays had me hooked. The looks of the food put any patessiere in France to shame. $25.00 worth of goods later and I couldn't have been more dissapointed. The black and whites, fruit tart, eclaires, rum custard puffs and cheese cakes were HORRIBLE! The only good thing about this place was the recomendation for Famous Joes Pizza around the corner. I would walk to Brooklyn to eat at Juniors before I crossed the street to Rocco
Great desserts in Greenwich Village – I've only been to Rocco once, but wow! It took me forever to decide what to get because everything looked so good. I finally picked what could best be described as a tiramisu parfait, and as I had hoped, it was delicious. I was also surprised at the prices- it was much cheaper than I thought it would be when I walked in. It's down the street from Magnolia, and honestly, you get much more for your money here. I'll definitely be going back!
Yummy cookies and best coffee – This is one of my recent favorite cookie place in the city... their pistachio biscotti and the chocolate cake is worth trying... also they know how to make your coffee just right...
amazing bakery but.. – the service was a bit rude. i was visiting with a group from school. a few of us decided to go in for a snack. i was in line with some friends and they skipped us and went on to someone else behind us! it wasn't like they were busy but they could have pretended to be a bit happier.. well when it was my turn to order, the one lady actually became kind to me and it actually made me happy as well! probably since i'm an overall happy person, i was smiling and being kind in return which i think she may have a been a bit surprised by! but in my opinion, i think they are just overly busy or tired! which makes them not as happy as they could be but that shouldn't stop anyone from visiting this place since they have amazing pastries! and the gelato was yummy! there was a huge variety to choose from! i'm not sure how to compare it to other bakeries but for the price which was actually super cheap.. i loved it! a pastery and a cup of gelato costed me less than $3!
but to shorten this, just be kind to the staff even if they seem rude!
have it with a hot cocoa – Stopped by on a random weekday afternoon w/ a friend. She got tiramisu & coffee, I had cheesecake & hot cocoa... Everything was great, especially the hot cocoa! Cute setting, nice atmosphere.
