I've been to Jarnac 6 times over the past year and a half and each time the place hits a home run. The food is excellent, the ambiance perfect and the service is amongst the best in NYC. Perfect for a romantic dinner for 2 or a small group (but leave the kids at home). Jarnac is a great place to bring out of towners who will be charmed by the restaurant and the neighborhood. Jarnac scores with both the traditional French fare and more continental dishes (I had a Mahi Mahi that is the best I've had outside of Hawaii). The wine list is impressive and reasonable with good bottles in the $25-50 range. Prices in general are a bargain for what you get . A dinner for 3 with appetizers, drinks, entrees a bottle of excellent Sancere, desset and coffee came in at about $200 (before tip). Jarnac is a warm, friendly and wonderful place to linger over dinner.

Jarnac has become my favorite West Village restaurant- the service is fantastic and very friendly, the music is great, and the food is delicious. The owner makes it seem like you're at a dinner party in his house- he keeps us coming back. I like it on weeknights b/c there's a more romantic vibe- perfect for a date or with close friends. Cant rave enough!
