Red Sox! – Love the bar. I've been here probably a hundred times to watch the Sox whoop the Yankees!

Cold beer. Good bartenders. Great local pub where you can knock back a few beers with some Sox fans.

Won't be returning. – My husband went to the city to spend the day and ended up in the Village where we decided to try someplace new to eat. I definitely wish that we would have tried a different place (a lot of this to do with the service). We were promptly seated outside with great people watching views.. It definitely felt cool at first. Our waiter was COMPLETELY clueless. I wish I could have gotten his name to put on here but he's young (about mid 20s with blond hair). He had a nice attitude but he definitely must have only had about an hour of experience. We literally had to find him for EVERYTHING, including having us waiting for what seemed forever to get our bill and then to pay our bill. Very, very frustrating. The nachos weren't bad, yes.. it is Cheez Whiz which was surprising but I like Cheez Whiz so... the frozen margaritas were good... the sandwich was good, the turkey could have been a better quality, though. I mean with 2 drinks, appetizer, and sandwiches.. we paid $50 (a steal in NYC), which made me not feel too bad about the service (you get what you pay for).

Great food..Service eh.. – Great surroundings..im a waiter on staten island so im sure the ppl below me just went on an off day but the nachos were awesome ..loaded with fresh veggies cheese and black beans went well with there unsweet tea.Everytime I go there though I always get some waiter whos english is horrible!! So i can understand why ppl think the service is horrible bc the waiters dont even understand what you want lol.I definately reccomend going very fun to chill outside during the summer.

And to the lady who wanted flourless cake..please give it up..No one wants to deal with a pain in the butt at work ..who the frigg cares, you shouldnt order anything remotely containing flour if your that badly allergic.

Home of Red Sox Nation – If you are from Boston or just a a member of Red Sox Nation, this Is THE place to be in NYC. No yankees, rangers or knicks games. Just Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins + assorted other teams on the many flat screen tv's. Wouldn't go here for the food, but is does have a friendly staff, the beer is cold & Sammy Adams is on tap . A home away from home for Red Sox Nation.

Worst experience in a restaurant ever – A friend and I went to this restaurant just to sit and have some dessert. I asked my waiter if the dessert I wanted to order had flour in it (since I have celiac disease), and he responded no. When it came out, it clearly had a layer of cake in it, and I asked him to double check to make sure it did not have flour. Meanwhile, the dessert he had brought out for my friend was completely wrong--she ordered apple cobbler, and he brought her cheesecake.

Instead of offering me another choice, the manager came over and yelled at me, trying to make me feel that I was stupid. He told me that the most basic ingredient in cake is flour. I tried to explain the situation, but he would not let me get a word in edge wise. I eventually managed to tell him that I had specifically asked if the dessert had flour. I also explained that there is such a thing as flourless cake, and he told me that in his 25 years in food service he had never heard of such a thing.

Then, I was about to take a bite of the filling of my friend's cheesecake, and he came over and yelled at us more, telling us that cheesecake has flour in it. I've never seen a cheesecake recipe for the filling that has flour in it, but I didn't want to argue any more. My friend tried to stand up for me though, so then he proceeded to yell at her.

Its hard enough to find food that I can eat as a celiac, and this experience was so unnecessarily horrible. The waitstaff and the management that I had interactions with at the Riviera Cafe were uncommonly ignorant, and I would definitely not recommend it to anyone.

Poor Service, Rude Bartenders – The old addage that one can never go home again certainly fits in this particular situation. I have been going to this establishment before it was even the Riviera. (O'Henrys" when I was a kid growing up in Greenwhich Village. When I lived in NY in the 1980s I lived in that place for food after work and for meeting friends on weekends. When I went back for drinks with my husband on a recent trip the bartender and wait staff were so unbelievably rude and hostile I thought I was in the wrong place. From that point on if I want to relive my past pleasures on a trip home I will go to the Corner Bistro or the White Horse Tavern where the staff are welcoming. I would never recommend or return to this establishment again.

NOT A PLACE FOR EATING – Not a good place to eat at...should not be called Riviera CAFE bc that implies decent food...the food was worse than cafeteria food. it was served in literally 3 minutes after ordering. For the philly cheesesteak, the steak was stale and the bread seemed it had been microwaved. Only go if you're interested in solely going to the bar. i would never eat here again!

This place is an offensive hoax of an establishment – i walk in to go watch a NY RANGER playoff game and i am told 'THIS IS A RED SOX BAR'. there were 15 people in the entire bar and the bar manager would only put on a NY Ranger hockey game on a 15 inch screen that was barely visible. when i asked if they could please put it on a more visible screen i was told by a few of the mooks working there along with a resident bar-mook.......'This is a Red Sox bar sorry'.

they have 25 big screens, had no one in the place and had ZERO interest in their clientele. these are the same idiots that go home, open cans of schlitz and play playstation all day.

this place is a joke

Manhattan's Red Sox Nation – The food and service are average, but it is THE place to watch Red Sox games in the city. Friendly crowd, TVs visible from every seat, and different rooms with different atmospheres. I wouldn't recommend it to a Yankees fan, but those that love Boston should be there for an enthusiastic experience!
