DON'T BUY ANYTHING THERE – Just want to warn people who are about to buy a mattress ... don't go Sleepys ... I payed $ 1167.00 for a mattress less than 2 months ago ..and I going to have to buy another one some place else because it's all falling apart .. Do not buy anything here ..
Stay away – Bought a mattress here a year ago, and now its completely falling apart, sagging all throughout. It shouldn't have been a problem, since there is an alleged 10 year warranty - but they refuse honor it, since 'sagging is natural'.
As I shop for a new one, I've also realized they charge DOUBLE what you need to pay.
Sleep's The Mattress Pros * – I'm only putting one star because it would not let me put 0 whic is what I would rate this company.
I recently ordered a Riva Platform Bed (Style Moriva5/0HFES). The bed was not put together correctly; the middle slat broke. On September 14, 2010 a sleepy's worker came to repair the bed. He told me that the bed could not be repaired; that the platform rails and slat were defective and recommended that I use bed beams once the bed was eventually repaired with the right parts. I went back to the sleepy's where i initially purchased the bed (on Montague Street, in Brooklyn Heights) with this information. They told me that since there had never been any problems with this model they would replace the entire bed. While this was not necessary (as the only thing that needed to be replaced was the middle slots with the addition of bed beams) I agreed that the bed would be replaced. The agreement was that the bed would be replaced and the former bed would be taken away from the premises. On Sunday, October 3, 2010 three truckers came to my apartment. I stepped to put my laundry in the dryer and saw that a sleepys delivery truck was in front of my building. My girlfriend who was in my apartment called me and told me that the truckers only replaced the head board, they did not replace the bed. In addition, the rails and slats had not been replaced. I ran upstairs and saw that the drivers were leaving. I told the drivers that the entire bed was supposed to be replaced; they responded that it did not, only the headboard needed to be replaced. I got customer service on the phone and customer service acknowledged that the entire bed needed to be replaced and that the replaced bed was to be taken away from the premises. She spoke with the drivers who then gave me back the phone. When I hung up the phone the drivers left and drove away; they apparently refused to take the headboard. Now not only am i still with a broken bed, I have this large extra headboard that I never even needed in my apartment. I then called sleepys customer service and asked them to at least take the extra headboard away. They told me that it could not be done that I would have to wait until they had drivers available to take the bed away and offered me a $50 gift certificate. I refused to take the gift certificate as was sickened to my stomach as to how this entire process was handled. Not only did sleepys give me a defective product, it failed to do the exchange as agreed and left me with an extra headboard which is taking up a significant part of my one bedroom apartment. There seems to be no accountability. I intend on making a formal complaint with the better business bureau about this fiasco. The drivers were extremely rude, customer service was not helpful and I'm left with a defective product. I am appalled by the way I was treated and regret the day i decided to purchase my bed from sleepys
Nothing Good To Say - AT ALL! – My experience with Sleepy's is trying to help my daughter, my friend, and my mother after each parted with her money to Sleepy's. None received what she paid for. Two received weightless inferior mattresses. None could get their money back, and one ended up paying nearly twice the cost of her purchase when she elected to avail herself of Sleepy's exchange program. None were happy, and I had to threaten litigation to even get one of them an exchange. There are no redeeming qualities to Sleepy's. We would benefit most if the FTC put Sleepy's out of business. DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH SLEEPY'S.
sleepys highway robbery – first of all, please do not make the same mistake i did!
bought my full size mattress a year ago and changed already twice. the third change will come up this week since i am freaking out with this bed.
i had the worse costumer service when i bought which led me to purchase the wrong mattress. this lead to an exchange the next week. 3 month later i started to feel very uncomfortable the time i lay in. the change occure...itwas not a mattress an more but a BATH TUBE. a huge dent was visible with the naked eye.
i called costumer service and threatened them to sue them. this had an effect and i did not even need to pay the "mandatory" delivery fee.
i got a new mattress after the inspector came but have now exactly the same issue. back pain, bad sleep, waking up 5 times a night. will do this again and probably go to court.
please..do not buy at sleepys!!
Sleepless in NY – About a year and a half ago my boyfriend and I purchased a mattress and box spring and frame from Sleepys. About a month ago we noticed that the mattress had deep impressions all over the mattress. The top portion of the mattress has shifted and it hangs over the end of the bed by more than 1 1/2". I have never seen anything like this and I have owned a number of mattresses in my life, some cheap and some very expensive. We had the inspector come, and unfortunately we weren't home at the time so we had my boyfriends mom let her in. We spoke to the inspector and were told we would be getting a new mattress in 2 weeks. Today we got the report showing the impressions and the overhang, but it stated that the warranty was voided because there were two stains. Indeed there are two bright yellow marks (looks like yellow food die) that I had not noticed before. We inspected the bed in the morning after we removed the bed protector we always have on the bed and those marks were not there. We called Sleepys and tried to get a re-inspection as the report says we are entitled to, we were told that because of the stains we couldn't get one nor have the mattress replaced. We tried the argument that even if the stains were there that the product was so blatantly defective and inferior that it should be replaced. We were offered a deep discount on a new one, we didn't feel comfortable getting another product which would likely be problematic. So now we are out $1500 and have to buy a new bed.
Bottom line, SLEEPYS sells shoddy merchandise and doesn't make good on warranty's. If you want a good night's sleep and no aggravation shop elsewhere!!
CHECK DISCLAIMER – I bought a full size mattress. Online it says the mattress should be 54W x 75L. The bed came delivered as a 52W x 72L. Shorter by 2-3 inches all around! It looks so small in the bed frame that i bought that i see the wood planks underneath. According to the Sleepy's customer service rep, a mattress can be 3 inches off. I have never heard of a thing. When I yelled on the phone, they promised they would measure it and send me something larger. However, it was delivered again in the same exact size. Overall the customer service was horrible. They gave me attitude and didn't care how happy the customer was. They wasted my time by making me wait for a second delivery that turned out to be pointless. The person on the phone couldnt even leave a msg for the customer service to call me tomorrow. Never again!
sales guys are crooks – They do not anything to money from you. I gave them an advance and tried getting it back. It took me 30 calls and 1 month to get my money back.
NEVER GO TO SLEEPY'S – When you go to sleepy's, you are meet with people who are going to use any marketing tricks to make you buy a mattress. For example they will always offer you some kind of bargain so you feel you need to buy this right away, they insist like crazy, they offer you to put some down payment, etc etc (By the way, their mattresses are not that great, and always super expensive so after the discount they give you you feel like you should buy..). I have been sleeping on a bed I bought at Sleepys and it's hurting my back pretty badly and I considered returning it. I was told that you have a 21 days trial period. What I didn't know (and the sales representative didn't tell me, he only told me about the 21 days period) is that it costs $249 + $89 delivery + taxes to return a queen size mattress!! I bought this one for $480. Do I really want to give them all this money and on top of that have to buy another one from them? No way!
If you read this, please go to 1800 mattress instead. The staff is nicer, and if you want to change the mattress, it only costs $59 delivery. Period.
