New Owners since Sept. 22, 2009!!!! – After repeated attempts to have Citysearch remove reviews that were not related to Firehouse Pizza, we had no choice to but to post ourselves.
We have been open since Sept. of '09. There is a new management team and a new menu.
We are a traditional Italian American pizzeria serving great New York style pizza. We also have great appetizers, pastas, heroes and salads.
Please pay us a visit!
Great Pizza – I'm really surprised by the negative reviews (and concerned about the health violations), but I have to admit that I have had great experiences with Firehouse Pizza. I think their pizza is absolutely a cut above the rest and it's my go-to when ordering in pizza. Whether it's plain or cherry peppers with mozzarella or caramelized (red) onions and mushrooms, each pizza is fresh and delicious. Everyone who's had it with me has said the same!
Horrible Food – 30 EAST 29 STREET, MANHATTAN 10016
Inspection Date: 03/05/2007
Violation points: 44
Violations were cited in the following area(s) and those requiring immediate action were addressed.
1.) Facility not vermin proof. Harborage or conditions conducive to vermin exist.
2.) Evidence of m*ce or live m*ce present in facility's food and/or non-food areas. I had to put the asteriks in because Citysearch states that the word is inappropriate. It is from an official government report so not sure how it could be characterized that way.
3.) Hot food not held at or above 140?F.
Yuck – Pizza parlor nestled between the firehouse and a "massge parlor.". The pizza there is so-so. Other dishes have the worst sauce I have ever tasted. There was something green floating in mine. It may have been parsley, but it looked really weird. I would not eat at this place. THere are so many other pizza parlors in the neighborhood. INice flat screen tv. Either they don't have AC or they are too cheap to put it on. It's a VERY unusual place. The pizza is expensive, and it's only so-so.
Go to Papa John's down the street or La Pizzeria on 3rd Ave. Domino's up a block or two on Third.
Beware – Their food is decent, but they have some of the most disrespectful and incompetent staff that I have ever come across. We used to order from them at least twice a week until we realized that they consistently screw things up and then accuse you of being in the wrong. So consider yourself warned -- if they screw up your order and you call them back, you can expect the call to go something like this: ?You expect me to give you free food?! CLICK??
Excellent Take Out – High-quality Italian takeout. Best in Murray Hill. Generous portions, speedy delivery.
