I feel terrible being negative about this place as I had such a wonderful experience with its predecessor on Lexington Avenue, which exists in name (and not attitude) only. I went to the new location on Fifth Avenue today and walked into the lobby and up the stairs to their second floor location. I banged on the door and no one let me in as the music was so loud. I went down the stairs and then took the elevator up. I walked into the showroom, with the music still blasting. After I waited my turn, I was told I would have to pay $145.00 to get my jacket cleaned and another $45.00 to sew a tiny tear in the cotton? lining (not to the fabric but to a seam) and $10.00 for delivery. The prices seemed way to high, especially for the sewing, and when I stated such, there was total indifference. I went to another leather cleaner who charged $50.00 plus $15.00 for the sewing and no charge for delivery.
While visiting NY, i ripped my andrew marc leather jacket. On a recommendation from a friend, we brought it to superior leather restorers. The owners were so professional and friendly. The repair was so incredible that we couldn't even find the place the jacket had been ripped. I highly recommend them for any leather repairs you may have. Craig Deitch
Superior Leathers is excellent. I brought a vintage leather cuff with silver work to be sized and it was done perfectly all in one day. Reasonably priced as well. Thanks so much.
Prada Bag Like New! Excellent job. – For $150 my damaged Prada bag is like new - would have had to spend 10 times that to replace (even if they still made the style). Beautiful work, lovely people. They cleaned and restored the leather, which had extensive damage from water and from my failed "DIY" efforts, fixed a broken zipper, and did a general overhaul. I am thrilled and would go back there in a heartbeat with any other leather goods.
Fantastic Job – I put a large tear in an expensive Fendi leather Jacket. Honestly, I almost tossed the jacket in the trash but figured at that point it was worth trying to have it repaired.
The repair is almost invisible - unless you get close and know where to look I doubt 1 in 20 people would even notice it.
Superior's definitely worth the cost - and they were very friendly.
I didn't think it was possible – My fiance had a very large, terrible rip on a very expensive Gucci handbag. The rip was so bad I thought it was beyond repair. I was almost positive it was going to have to be thrown away. I was so frustrated. After doing a bit of research I came across Superior Leather and decided to let them try and fix it. I dropped the bag off one day and came back about a week later. To my suprise the rip was gone as though it was never there in the first place! There were no scars left over or anything. I never expected to get it back looking this good. My fiance actually thought I went out and bought her a new bag when she first saw it.
I really don't understand what the previous post was all about, my experience was very good with these people. In fact the owner, who's an older gentlmen, was the person who first looked at my bag when I walked in and he was very nice. Not only was he friendly but he made me feel like my bag was in the best hands possible and judging by these results, i'd say he was right. Definitely got me out of a jam, I would recommend them very highly to anybody. A++
PERFECT! – My favorite leather jacket had a tear in it so I brought it in to Superior. The friendly owner said to me not to worry as he'd take care of it. 48 hours later, you couldn't even tell where the orginal tear was! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Ruined my designer bag! – So I desperately need to remove a stain on my designer bag. I had no idea where to go,so I read the reviews and decided to go to Superior Leather Restorers. (wihch is not even close to where I live. I went on a 45 min subway ride just to get this done)
The old man who greeted me told me he could get it done within a day, which was really great, until he asked for a ridiculous amount of money. When I told him it's a bit too much, he told me that I should be glad that he's not charging the rush fee. The tone of his voice was very condescending and rude.
I was in a hurry, so I paid for whatever he asked for, and went back the next day to pick it up. The old man gave me the bag and said that I wont' be able to spot the stain anymore. Not only I could still see the stain right away, he did not even polish the bag, and that entire area was completely without any gloss. It was basically the same as when I brought it in minus the gloss. I asked him if this should be more polished and he told me to go and buy a leather cleaner and polish it myself.
I really hope noone goes to this place and be treated like this and most importantly pay to get their expensive leather goods ruined.
Never thought it could be done... – I had a jacket that had been terribly torn and discolored. I was ready to throw it out, my wife said to try to fix it. I thought no way, but tried Superior. Not only did Superior repair it, but when i got it back I wasnt even sure which side the tear was on, and the jacket looked brand new. I love it all over again. Thank you sooooo much Superior, you're the best!!
Can't Live without this place! – Mr. Rosen repairs everything. Wallets, jackets, purses, belts, suede, leather. you name it, he does it. I've never seen anything like this ever. I had a jacket that i loved, from back in high school. The sleeve was completely ripped. Mind you, this is leather. I thought I was screwed...next thing you know, my neighbor put me onto this store. I brought it in, a week later the jacket looks like it was never ripped. I had to ask if it was my jacket!!!
