Cute & Convenient B&B – I really enjoyed my stay at this B&B. I've never stayed at one before and this met most of my expectations. My hubby and I decided to go to SB for the weekend with my newborn son. I was dreading an overly cheesy flowerly-like decor but we stayed in the Belle Caruso room which was quite nice ~ airy, clean, cottage-quaint. King bed with lots of pillows and thick blankets, much like my own bed. The bathroom was newly renovated ~ i loved the dual shower head. The towels were beautifully fluffy. The full kitchen was clean and pretty much unused, but it offered the basic necessities ~ almost wish I made a meal there! The french doors allowed us to separate the kitchen from the room, which was helpful when the baby napped. The cons about the room ~ the kitchen floor creaked really bad and the bathroom fan sounded like it could be changed. There were drawers that were trying to be antique-ish, but it seemed forced.
That was the bed part. Now onto the breakfast part. We had egg souffle with salsa, and bowl of cantalope on the first monring and the 2nd morning french toast with strawberries, poached pear and yogurt. I really enjjoyed both meals, but I wish the portions were slightly bigger, especially with the french toast, becuase I think I got gipped by getting the end of the french loaf. So with only two slices I was still really hungry.
I wish I could have used the facilities and amenities more ~ I saw bikes and the beach close by, and taking the trolley to State street, but couldn't take advantage of them this time around.
One thing I found annoying though, was that I had to call and email a few times to make sure my reservations was made. After 4-5 days, and the day before my arrival, I finally got an email confirmation. I just don't feel I should have to chase a reservation down especially. I didn't even get to meet the innkeeper. I only saw a couple of cleaning women and the young server at breakfasts.
not for young couples or those on a tight budget – Nice place but overpriced. Close to the water but there are hotels directly next door much cheaper and only lacking in the small unimpressive breakfasts. Also, tough to get accurate information about the facilities and the town of Santa Barbara during the day due to lack of staff. Good quaint place for elderly couples looking for a quiet weekend away but if youre in town to go to the beach, taste wine and check out the town at night definetly go to the Motel 6 fifty feet away .
