Amazing ambiance – Ambiance was fantastic- both the outside patio (which has heat lamps) and the indoor dining room feels like an intimate, romantic, mountain escape. The food was good, some dishes better than others. My scallops were so so, my husband's steak was excellent.

Hi-jacked dinner – So my wife and I take our daughter to the much raved about Stone House to celebrate her 23rd birthday. Beautiful setting on a spectacular evening with a nice table. What could go wrong? Plenty. Seated, ordered a bottle of wine. The wine arrived and our daughter decided to order a beer. The waiter disappears..well sorta..he begins a nearly 15 minute conversation with the young couple at the table next to us. Finally, some one comes to our assistance. Gets our daughter her beer and we are finally able to give our food orders. My wife and I have just recently returned from a week's stay in NYC where we ate at a series of outstanding restaurants. Never ignored by a rude waiter in NYC where that is suppose to be a common event. Food at the Stone House was well presented and some of it nice. The majority of our dishes were heavily salted. In addition to be ignored and the mediocre food we had the wrong orders presented to us. I had no napkin, no plate. I've read the reviews of this resort and most be people rave about it. Would I give this place another chance..my goodness no..not at those prices! Have a cocktail and go somewhere else.

Magical – If I could stay at one hotel in Santa Barbara for a weekend this might be it. It's just beautiful. It's very old world and rustic too.

World Class – We have traveled far and wide, but this little gem is the cream of the crop.

We stayed there for a few nights when our house was being remodeled, it was a bit of a treat, and has become a yearly one now for some time.

Personal stationary and chocolates, outdoor jacuzzi, amazing food. This place is to die for!!

San Ysidro is Under Construction – True weekends are quite. This is place is under major construction with plenty of noise during the weekdays. The constuction starts around 8:00 AM and goes until 6:00 PM, Monday-Friday. There are bull-dozers and large earth movers. The restaurant is not open and no one would give me a date when it will open. Also there is no room service, which is way to bad considering you are in this nice room and you have to get dressed and walk to a less than equal building down the hill. It is only a sub-par continetal breakfast. The average rates are hovering around $1,295 for a good room, some around $1,000 and old room for about $700. We were told that another constuction phase will begin in the fall of 2006 and last into late 2007. Until then, try Montage or Bel-Air, unless you don't mind construction noise.

Luxury unites with rustic beauty at this historic ranch. – The Scene
This property is more of a retreat than a resort, and it's certainly more luxurious than the term "ranch" implies. Its sprinkling of cottages populate a park-like rural setting on 500 acres tucked into the foothills above Montecito, home to numerous upscale shops and restaurants.

The Details
It's easy to see why the young, newly-rich-and-famous come here. There's a wonderful country feel to the cottages, which include decks, outdoor hot tubs and wood-burning fireplaces. If you have the big bucks, you can sleep in the two-bedroom cottage where Jackie and JFK honeymooned and where today's Hollywood stars escape to get in touch with nature. Along with peace and quiet, guests will find tennis courts, a spa, acres of flowering gardens and two superb restaurants, Plow & Angel Bistro, and Stonehouse, which is located in a 150-year-old stone building.

A Little Piece of Heaven – Stayed here a few month's ago with my husband and 2 small dogs. It's beautiful, serene, and so relaxing. The staff was very courteous and attentive and they treated our dogs as well as they treated us. We enjoyed taking walks around the grounds. The pool, tennis courts, and small workout room were nice and secluded away from the cottages. The cottages were absolutely adorable with the most comfortable bed. They are also very spacious with nice amenities. If you have dogs and love to travel with them, this is a great place to stay. They have nearby hiking trails that your four-legged friends will love. The croquet lawn and small playground for kids was also a nice touch and I love how they name all of their cottages after some kind of flower or plant - that was really cute.

Oo, la la – Just up the road from Oprah and a gazillion other celebrities who have made Montecito home, this is an amazing retreat. Expensive, but worth evert penny.
