I have lived at 141 East 89th for four years and I must see this building is my home and is an amazing place to live. The Super is great, the staff is beyond kind and professional (walks dogs, plays with kids, protects you). Beth in the leasing office is truly one of the nicest people in the business. Please don't believe EVERYTHING you read. Check it out for yourself. I couldn't be happier and Mrs. Koeppel tries to keep the rents very, very fair to insure people can afford to stay here long-term.
From my 5 years experience working with Koeppel MGMT I can say that that is the best, very responsible, very friendly , highly professional people.
As to Mrs Beth personally I can say that she works with her heart, always open and ready to assist you with very very nice personality and I think that is a pleasure to work with her
Wish to continue my experience for a long time
Do NOT live here – Do not live here unless you want one of the doormen to steal your package deliveries.
My husband and I lived at 141 East 89th Street for 3 years. We finally moved out because the laundry rooms are disgusting and unsanitary (thick black and brown mold inside of the machines), and there were mice and insect problems throughout the building.
We moved out at the end of November and since then, several of our family members accidently sent wedding presents to our old address at 141 East 89th street. After locating the tracking numbers of the packages and noticing they were accepted and signed by the doormen, we went to go pick them up. The doorman working in the evening, (whose name was signed when the packages were delivered!) told us that there were no packages and that we were trespassing just by entering the lobby!!!
We called Koeppel today to try to resolve the issue and to recover thousands of dollars worth of packages, and they said that they "didn't want to get involved". Unfortunately for Koeppel and the sticky-fingered doorman (this particular doorman works the 3-11 shift, is short with dark skin and hair), they may not think that it's "their problem", but stealing mail is a federal crime, so we will be sure to make it their problem.
beth/141 e89th st – i have been dealing with beth on a professional level for the past 7 years. i have always found her to go over and beyond to help people. she is friendly and works very very hard. i take exception to people blaming her for things that are not her job. she tries very hard to make people happy. SHE IS NOT THE OWNER OR THE SUPER!!!!! to insult her and demean her is beyond reprehensible. and to pick on the "middle aged woman" as you put it that picks up the phone because she can't help your stuffed drain is dumb. she isn't the person you are supposed to complain to, she is a RECEPTIONIST. i am sorry that the 3 of you are so cowardly that you feel the need to personally attack beth and the receptionist who are people that just work for someone and are trying to do a very hard job is very sad
there are people in that building that have been there for 3 yrs and5 yrs and 10 yrs. very rarely do people not renew their leases. stop being so bitter
In reponse to letters about 141 East 89th.Street – Hi, its me Beth the ogre. First and foremost I'd like to thank the three people who wrote their opinions about me, very enlightning. Your opinions are certainly welcomed. It is extremely difficult to see one's faults wouldn't you agree? I do welcome your feedback, which help me to improve were I am lacking. Pardon me if I seem a litle brusque at times it must be my New York persona. Though I most certainly welcome your opinions (since I wholeheartedly agree that everyone is entitled to theirs) I'd like to clarify a few things. Thanks for the owner and person in charge thing, but unfortunetly I am not. I am a salaried employee. I am also not the person who is responsible for apartment repairs, for those my boss hires a super and management company. My title is Director of Leasing. I am not interested in anyone's money except during lease signing, which I thought was the norm for any management company. I am sorry if you are not happy with your apartment , I am sorry if you have the occassional mouse, roach or bedbug as you claim. Though these "vermin" can be a part of city dwelling the management company hires exterminators and they do their best to quell the problems.
I don't know maybe it's me but every morning that I wake up I thank God for having a roof over my head. Especially when I'm drinking my morning cup of Joe, turn on the news and see what's going on around the world, somany people without homes. I guess that's not whats important to some people, but as I said everyone is entitled to their opinion.
By the way I would appreciate a call from the person who claims that their money was stolen. Please call me so we can get this perp, press charges and have him or her arrested.
Hopefully I have educated you a little as far as my position with the company is concerned. Please feel free to contact me if I can be of any further assistance. I get on average about 100 calls per day, but in between renting apartments, entering leases, answering phones, taking care of tenants, generating new leases, registering apartments, etc.etc.etc.etc.etc. I am here to help you and only you.
Very truly yours,
141 East 89th street new York ny 10128 – I wanted to inform people about koeppel management. These people and Beth who runs the office are nasty people. They lie steal money and dont take care of the buildings. Beth attacks you verbally ands mrs koeppel could care less about the people lving I her properties. There are mice and other vermin in the buildings. I do not recumbent this company or 141 east 89th street. The super is great but Beth and the other people that work in the office should not have a job. There are so many other buildings that treat you well and take respomsibilty for there buildings. They tell you they will give you your deposit back whe. They tell you they will that's Beth as well. Nasty Nasty people
Koeppel Magement is Terrible – Koeppel Management is collecting money.
Beware of elevators always broken, smells, bed bugs,
There does nothing to help to tenants and rip as much money off people as possible.
There don't want to return your deposit when you leave!!
DO EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE CHARGE FROM YOU.
I had to call the cops on my neighbour on several times. Toilet drain malfunctioning and everytimes drain to garage.
BEWARE DO NOT RENT OR HAVE ANY DEAL with Koeppel Magament!
20 years leave in New York, I never seen that terrible management.
Stay away. – Koeppel Management is good at collecting money but not when tenants need help. Beth, the person in charge there, does nothing to help her tenants and everything to rip as much money off people as possible.
I had to call the cops on my neighbour on several occasions and pay them (neighbours) a visit at 4am to ask them to stop blasting music in the middle of the night on a weekday when I had to get up to go work at 7am. I’ve placed several noise complaints to Koeppel Management by calling and writing to the office and nothing has been done to help resolve the issue.
The secretary who answers the phone sounds middle-aged but has a work ethic of a 16 year old high school student (whom she frankly seems to have never been) and just wants to get you off the phone as quickly as possible without even trying to listen to what you have to say. She hung up on me several times after I asked why Beth has not returned my phone calls for days (there seems to be a 30 second cut-off switch on all complaint related calls). After the 1st complaint, she stopped transferring me to Beth and I never reached Beth again. Beth seems to be too busy to talk to tenants about issues but very readily available when time comes to signing/re-signing a lease so that she can get paid.
If you are Ok with handling building issues on your own and still pay the market rate for your apartment, please be my guest and rent from these guys. But if you want basic building services that are included in the rent price and be able to talk to someone who can help with simple issues, do yourself a favor and find a different management company in the neighbourhood. Thankfully, I believe Koeppel Mgt doesn’t manage that many buildings so finding a building with another management company shouldn’t be an issue in whichever neighbourhood you’re considering renting.
I would recommend doing some research on a management company and the building beforehand by searching the net, asking current tenants about responsiveness of the management company, building noise levels, how quickly things such as a clogged shower/toilet drain or a malfunctioning radiator get fixed, etc.
Best of luck.
