not if you are male – i am a male and needed a massage

i heard about this place so i called and made an appointment.

bad experience! i was given a robe that had seen better days it was tattered... and then taken into a small waiting room with 4 women in robes, who were very uncomfortable understandably.. we were all uncomfortable but there was not anywhere else to go.

the massage itself was very good

but i wont be going back there again.

Best Facial Ever, Ask for Janet – Ok so I get a gc and go in for a facial with Janet. I've gotten all kinds of facials at lots of different locations and most are so-so at best. But the one I got at Ajune with Janet was phenomenal. First, she was extremely professional and courteous. Second, she was incredibly knowledgeable and offered suggestions and explained everything she was going to do, how it would feel, and what it would do for my skin. Third, the extraction was the most painless extraction I've ever experienced. She prepped my skin so well that the extraction was virtually pain free. Finally, she's a perfectionist! I walked out with my skin glowing, no redness and I didn't need any makeup! I'm hooked. I would go in for a facial and ask for Janet specifically.

Manager, Margaret Lora, shockingly unprofessional! – I've had an extremely disappointing experience at Ajune. After three laser hair removal treatments and ineffective results, I met with the manager, Margaret Lora, who told me she would see what she could do about this situation. Emails and phone calls later, she would not respond to my follow up communications and has trained her staff to not allow anyone to speak with her directly. They all "take a message," which is then completely disregarded. Even the owner, Mauro Romita, will not address the issue. The way the staff has treated me has been humiliating, which is just salt in the wound of spending $1,600 on ineffective services. I recommend anyone searching for a spa to go elsewhere. It's overpriced and they do not deliver on any value added services that you couldn't find elsewhere. It doesn't even have a spa feel to the atmosphere. Terrible experience all around!!!

I finally found a good waxer! – I'm so excited because I have been looking for a new bikini waxer after my last place shut down due to economic trouble. I came across Ajune while walking down 3rd ave and the girl at the front desk reccommendded Joanne to me for a Brazilian wax. She said she had been waxed by her and it was good. I'm soooo glad she did becase Joanne was AWESOME! She also used a new stick each time she needed more wax and I told her that was something I had never seen a waxer do before. Joanna alse talked to me about eventaully doing laser hair removal down there, and even though the idea freaks me out know I would trust Joanne to do it for me....Trust me....go see her. She's amazing!

Not worth it – I recently moved to NYC and was disappointed with my 2 experiences at Ajune. The atmosphere is nice & I had high expectations. I have a lot of lower back problems and have been getting massages about once every 6 weeks for the past 2 years - so I know what I need and am very clear in expressing this to the massage therapist before any treatment. Before we started, I told the therapist that I need a lot of glut-work done and that I respond well to pressure points. Well... she didn't even touch my gluts! And after telling me that she knows pressure points, etc etc, she did none of that either. Although she was helpful enough to tell me that my bad back is the result of having cold feet. WHAT!? Oh yes, and when I told her I would like a little more pressure (after she asked me if the pressure was okay) she said "Well, this isn't a deep tissue massage." Alright... well then what was the point of asking about the pressure!?! Anyway, it was relaxing I guess... but in terms of any benefits or results - NONE. I left feeling like nothing had happened.

I tried Ajune once more for a waxing and it was fine, but I won't go back as it was certainly not worth the price.

Second time around – It's been a week since I went to Ajune Spa. Because of the humidity and the heat my face was filled with pimples and just overall stress...This is my second time around. I was so pleased the first time that i decided to go again. I was recomended to Naren. All i have to say is WOW!!!! my face is STILL glowing..I asked her some questions in regards to my skin and products.. She recommended some products and I had the SONYA DAKAR FACIAL done to me..I am so ridiculously pleased....

All i have to say is AMAZING!!!! my face has never looked so good. I go to spas regularly but i was blown away at how awesome my face looks...I definetly recommend it!

Superior Spa Experience – To date, I have attended Ajune only a handful of times. However, I intend to make this my prime, and perhaps solo, location for all my personal treatment needs. Formerly, I have sampled other NYC spa locations and always found something to be desired with the staff or experience.

Upon first visiting, I was greeted by a warm and genuine staff and immediately felt welcomed and comfortable and was escorted to the "relaxation room". Appreciative of the soothing and zen-like environment, I was pleasantly surprised to find my duration of time waiting here was no more than five minutes. Although, I must admit I could have simply remained seated there for sometime longer.

The procedures I have had done at Ajune have been executed with precision and expertise. The staff is extremely well trained and knowledgable, as well as, apt in making one feel relaxed and comfortable with the procedure being performed.

Whether its necessity or indulgence I highly recommend Ajune for all your spa needs.

Sales pressure bordering psychological harrassment....never again... – I booked facial services at Ajune spa in June following rave reviews. The therapist was running late and looked in a hurry, there is no spa atmosphere and worst of all, the therapist kept doing small talk to me the entire time of my appointment (!!!!) the purpose of which is to sell me anything that would be expensive. She recommended several products which I did not want or did, given my regimen...who wants to buy a microdermabrasion product when you can afford to go to a medspa anytime it's needed???Despite many rebuttals several times, she went on and on. When I very regularly spend a couple of hundred dollars on one spa appointment, I expect it to be relaxing with absolutely no sale pressure.

Needless to say, I never came back ....
