Go to Omar at their 57th Street salon! – The Joseph Martin 57th Street location is really wonderful, but I go for their colorist, Omar Ahamad. I really can't recommend him highly enough--I would follow him anywhere. I've never been to someone who was so good with color and took so much time to pay attention to detail. Because of the totally natural-looking blonde highlights he gives me, people are always shocked when I tell them I get my hair colored. I recommended him to my mom and my sister, and now they're devoted clients too!
Beautiful haircuts & styling – I started going to Joseph Martin last winter when they were on Madison Avenue. They have since moved and I think that their new location is really nice. It's a very elegant and serene space. The staff are also very warm and pleasant. So far I've loved every haircut I've had from here. Honestly, I think I've found
"The One" when it come to hairstylists!...his name is JC. I love the way he delivers what I'm looking for: beautiful, sexy hair. I've never had so many compliments on my hair...and I've been tried a lot of uptown shi shi salons, believe me. After my first couple of experiences with him, I now trust him completely and just let him work his magic on me. I do agree with the other reviewer on consistency. One of the disappoinments I've encountered with other hairstylists is inconsistency. JC has done a wonderful job each time. He's nice too. I will definitely keep coming back.
EXPERIENCED, TALENTED, AND CONSISTENT – This evening was my fifth visit to Joseph Martin. Once again, I left pleased with my color. Michael Donnelly gave me a full head of NATURAL looking blonde highlights which I couldn't be happier with. I stress natural because I've had 3 other Madison Ave salons give me awful fake blonde stripes. Not only did Michael get my color right the first time but he has gotten in right every time since. I can't help but love that he is reasonably priced as well! I have paid a lot more for a lot less. Staff is friendly too. The housekeeper even remembers how I take my coffee. On an evening that I was running late the receptionist worked me in and took care of my dinner reservations. There is a big family vibe in Joseph Martin which is very welcoming. Not at all stuffy which you seem to find in that neighborhood. I look forward to many more visits .
Stylish but not crazy – I needed someone to fix an awful cut from another salon in the area and Kerry was recommended to me. The results were great - very stylish but not too avant-garde - exactly what I needed for work. He can do the Madison Ave matrons as well as their daughters. He is such a sweet guy too. Some of the other stylists were pretty bitchy, but after all, it is a hair salon. Others, incl. Joseph, need to get over themselves - I mean its not like this is Frederick Fekkai or another high profile salon. The decor is also dated, and needs improvements.
