Mixed Feelings – The merchandise was beautiful and beautifully displayed, however it was our misfortune to encounter the rudest sales person I have ever met. I left the store completely disillusioned because of it. I can find darling Japanese and high fashion things in other stores where they treat you much kinder
Museum Quality but Purchasable – My favorite store in New York City!!!!
As an Interior Designer, my dream, a Client that wants me to design their entire home with all Takashimaya items.
I spend a day browsing, shopping and lunching or taking tea after three each time I visit New York City.
oasis on fifth – How refreshing to spot an understated facade on Fifth Avenue. The entrance area for plants and ceramic flowerpots is fun to browse, and you can pick up nice gifts (many in the $50-$80 range) in the Tea Box downstairs. Try some emerald tea while you're there. This store is somewhat touristy, but a pleasure for anyone who appreciates Japanese aesthetics.
