not what i expected – if you go to the website, you expect you will be staying in a much nicer place than you will be. Im sure the suites are much nicer, but the superior room was very small, very dark, and lacked many of the "included" ammentities. we two windows, both of which faced brick walls. and the room service is really delivery from a just ok diner across the street. The shower was nice and the top floor balcony was nice. I think it was a bit overpriced.
Tiny rooms, confused front desk. Very inconsistent when discussing room rates over the phone, then even in person. This place needs work.
a GREAT place to stay – If you're in New York, usually you're running around the city, and this place is perfect. Boutique hotel style, comfy beds, and a pleasant staff... all at budget prices. My room was small, no mini-bar, and I would suggest bringing your own hairdryer if you have lots of hair (ours kept overheating and shutting off). It's located in a cute residential area on the Upper West Side. I will def. be making this my new place to stay for those budget trips.
Neighborhood Oasis – Small, but beautifully austere rooms, and from what I could tell, all rooms have a view of something other than a brick wall four feet away (like you find in other inexpensive nyc hotels). Central air/heating rather than window unit which is a plus.
Location is good despite being uptown. Subway stop is two blocks away. Ruby Foo's right next door is great for drinks and dim sum. Some standard shopping fare (Gap, Body Shop, Skechers, Starbucks) close by.
Art Deco at Prices Economo – This hotel has a simple, elegant desing with well-lit and arranged subtly furnished rooms. the staff is helpful and the rates are particularly favorable relative to the majority of hotels in its class in this city. I highly recommend it. It doesn't hurt that it's away from the hustle and bustle of midtown and the major business districts.
nice hotel – A pretty decent hotel with great staff. Room was clean and neat. Lets face it--all rooms are small in the City unless you're paying in the $500 range, which we realize is a waste since were only in the room for ~9 hours of 24. Bathrooms nice.
wonderful – it's quite stylish, but rooms do differ a lot: some are rather small with a decent view, some larger towards the back. The showers are very nicely designed, the pressure is good, bathrobes provided. Staff is friendly. Location could not be beaten: it is very vibrant, there are some cheap and nice restaurants around, Central park is nearby. Stay.
