what a great time! – OMG! I was sooo nervous to take my 2 yr old daughter for her first haircut because she always cries at the doctor so I was expecting the worst. She loved it! she thought she was at an amusement park and didn’t even notice that she was getting a haircut. The hair cutter was so sweet and made her feel very comfortable. I didn’t know what to do with her hair, but the stylist gave me my options and we decided on bangs because she wont keep clips in her hair and her hair grows forward into her eyes. The haircut looks amazing. My daughter sat in a little red car and watched Dora during the haircut. They even blew bubbles for her! Then at the end, they presented me with her 1st haircut certificate, with her 1st lock of hair. That's going in her baby book for sure. If I knew how easy it was going to be, I would've done it months ago. Thanks Cozy Cuts, can't wait to come back, and neither can my daughter!
Trying Hard to Lose My Repeat Business – My daughter has gotten probably 4 or 5 decent haircuts at Cozy's over the years. Yes, it is expensive and yes it is annoying to have to parade your child through a toy store where everything is set at child's height on your way back to the chairs, but the haircut was good and my daughter was happy. We took my son there for his first haircut with no complaints, but decided to start using a barber for a while to save money. (Cozy's is EXPENSIVE). Today I decided to get him a decent cut, not just the buzz-cut that the barber offers. I had received an email offer for a free sample of swimmer's shampoo and decided that was good enough reason to go back. (My daughter is swimming every day in camp and I'm in the market for a shampoo that will save her hair). First, they refused to give me a sample saying that the promotion was only for kids getting a wash AND a cut. I was happy to have my son's hair washed but they said he only needed a spray from the water bottle. I sat there looking at tons of samples, all set to be given out for free. The store was EMPTY. We had walked in with no appointment. I was clearly interested in possibly investing in a full-size bottle of their swimmer's shampoo, yet the manager flat-out refused to give me a sample. She "invited" me to purchase my own bottle. I had to refuse out of principal. It was ridiculous. She had a zillion free samples sitting there and wouldn't give one to a paying customer who was in the market to buy more product. We got a great haircut from Maria, who treated my son like gold and made him look terrific. Unfortunately, about 15 minutes after leaving I noticed that Maria's clippers had cut the back of my son's neck. He had several scratches and raised, rash-looking, irritated bumps on the back of his neck. i went back into the store to show the manager. I was very nice about it, I just showed them the injury and asked what I should do about it. Maria was lovely. She put powder on his neck and apologized profusely. The manager (same woman who was being so ridiculously cheap about 70 cents worth of shampoo) could not have cared less and offered me nothing, not even an apology. Out of principal, I have to stop bringing them my business. Shame, because they give nice haircuts and my children like going there.
Bye-bye bowl cut. Say hello to a barbershop for the Barbie and Batman set. – The Scene
Because a first haircut can be a hair-raising experience, Cozy Friedman has created a kid-friendly salon that tames tykes' nerves and their tresses. The bright purple, yellow and red space is part playroom, part salon; little ones perch on mini-Jeep barber chairs and watch cartoons, play Nintendo 64 or blow bubbles while stylists sneak a snip. In addition to a steady stream of neighborhood regulars, the hot-spot-for-tots has hosted the offspring of celebrities like Meg Ryan, Rosie O'Donnell, Liam Neeson and Stephanie Seymour.
Cuts from one of the child-experienced stylists include a lollipop, balloon, and free toy from the house goodie basket. For first-timers, a lock of hair is attached to a Certificate of First Hair Cut, which commends them for their patience and bravery. For girly-girls, the salon also hosts "Glamour Parties" that include everything from manicures to dance lessons.
