Dine Above It All – amazing chicken fingers! tasty drinks, great selections. one of the best things is the atmosphere and the view. not claustrophobic like some places. staff friendly, ownership humble and welcoming. speedy service
Friendly Neighborhood Bar Welcoming To All – I am an African American. I worked at The Heights and the other restaurants affiliated with The Heights for 5 years. I have also been a customer many times since I stopped working there. I have never, at any point, experienced discrimination from any of the staff or ownership.
The Heights and it's affiliated restaurants are neighborhood institutions that are welcoming to people of all ages, races, ethnicities, religions, gender and sexual orientation. They are comfortable, fun places to bring your friends and family for a good meal and drink.
I will continue to frequent the Heights for many years to come!
Great Service, Great food – The service was exceptional. My husband and I eat out at least 3 times per week and know good service when we see it. Granted we had 4 different waiters/waitresses they ALL were extremely attentive. I'm not sure where the previous posts got their ideas from but the wait staff was extremely polite. On top of that the food was excellent. We both had a burger with salad. They give you a choice to have salad instead of fries which is nice and the happy hour margaritas are delicious and strong. The wings were also good. Now that we've discovered The Heights we no longer need to travel all the way down to Corner Bistro for a decent burger. All in all it was excellent.
A bit expensive, but great atmosphere and food – I got the steak burrito and it was awesome and huge.
no good, very bad service – After coming here since i moved to the upper west side, two years ago, the heights has disappointed me. The service was terrible, horrible, no good, very bad. I usually enjoy coming to the heights to hang out after a week of work. However, a week ago coworkers and I came to the heights only to be turned off by the service. We were greeted with people that did not want to serve us. They just ushered us onto the rooftop (which is not problem), but it was empty everywhere. Why couldn't we sit on the first floor? The service on the rooftop was great!!! We closed our tab and then we sat for 45 minutes without anyone asking if we wanted to order anything else. When we went to get the waitress she told us if we were just going to drink we should leave because they needed the tables for people who were going to order food. I was going to order food. They walked over us and ignored us for another 30 minutes. We asked for the manager and although given a round of margaritas, completely treated us as if we were a bunch of college students looking to get drunk. Definitely not the case. It was a disappointing experience. A lot better places to go around the upper west with much friendlier service.
Really disappointed with the service. I used to love this place. – Kevin,
I'm sorry but I have to completely diagree with you. I used to love your restuarant, and frequent it quite often. I am a teacher, and yesterday I broguht a group of the girls there after work. We are always looking for a "spot" for our Friday unwind, and I knew that they would love the atmosphere of The Heights. Our first servers were NIRA and BASTIAN. They were AMAZING. Ask them about us -- we left a big tip. However Nira's shift ended, and she asked us to close out with her. We did, and then proceededto sit for 45 minutes with no food or drinks. We actually GOT UP to ask tow different servers -- LIZ (red hair) and another girl - for help because we wanted to order dinner and drinks. LIZ gave me a look that could freeze water, and did not respond. NO ONE came over to our table, and at certain points walked right by us and averted eye contact. We were then asked how long we planned to stay because we needed the table.
I went down to talk to the MOD Raul, who unfortunately made the situation worse. He acted as if we were bothering him, or making him uncomfortable. He then had us get up and leave our table, and offered us a free margarita. We proceeded to stand in the middle of the restaurant and drink our free drink holding all our bags, being bumped in every direction by servers (not their fault of course). He really couldn't have been bothered, and did not mediate the situation AT ALL.
When we were basking under the glorious service of NIRA and BASTIAN, we planned on making it the new "spot" for all our teacher friends after work. We are also actively shopping around for a space to rent out for an end of the year party, and thought that The Heights would be perfect. I hope that Liz and Raul are worth it, becuase they just cost you a lot of money. I will never be back, and neither will any of the people I foolishly brought. We were all disappointed - we would have rather had a consistent hang out than a measly free drink.
The Best Deal in Morningside Heights – Being that I am the General Manager, I am biased toward the Heights, I can truly say that the service at my restaurant is exceptional...and that we are kid friendly...I do parties for kids on saturdays on the roof top...and our new roof deck that we finished last summer is now enclosable (like the one atop the Gansevoort Hotel) and is now weather ready...it is a quiter more romantic space than the downstairs bar...furthermore the review, on this page, is fair enough but we strive for better and better service...so, in short, come I work from 9-5 daily where I, Kone, Nacho, Jeasus and Aref and one of our awesome floor staff will serve you a burrito for $5.50 at lunch time...can you beat it? Love kevin
The Retractable Roof is Awsum when the weather turns bad. – I love being able to eat outdoors and the Hieghts has got it goin on!
Affordable Rooftop dining with great drinks and a cool view.
The service is good and the wait was short.
"read the sign on the door" – i heard great reviews so i went here after work, ready to enjoy the "famous" roof seating and $3 margaritas. When my friend and i got our drinks it started raining so we had to move downstairs, which was fine. When we got our bill the drinks were full priced and when we asked, our waitress said that there is no happy hour on the roof. When we said that 1)we had no idea and 2)we were on the roof for a total of 5 min, she said you should have read the sign on the door saying "no happy hour on the roof" and that because we ordered on the roof, (even though we didn't get to enjoy our drinks on the roof) we had to pay full price. What a way to get customers to return. P.S. there was hardly any spinach in their famous spinach burrito.
A good neighborhood fallback! – I found myself eating from here more times than I wanted to. I would get take-out usually, but it was a good place for groups, too. Great burgers, fast!!
