Best Place to have Lunch – Trying to find a good fast place (that is not fast food) near Columbia is not easy... we stumbled upon the heights (its on the 2nd floor so make sure to look up) for a quick bite to eat...They had a 6.50 lunch sign that brought us in and did not dissapoint.... The place was relatively busy (which is a good sign) and the staff was nice... We ordered off the lunch menu.. I got a chicken burrito (whcih was huge) and my friend got a stuffed steak taco(which was delicious)... I have to say that it was less than 10 minutes from the time we sat down to our food being served..Very fast and friendly.. after tax and tip out meal was still under $10...Good times!

Love the open air roof – Gotta love the open air roof and the delicious fruity margaritas. Sweet student hang out.

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU DONT WANT TO RISK BEING HUMILIATED – This bar really has issues. First off, it's really annoying to have to wait 20 minutes to get in on a Friday or Saturday night. But that's not really a problem. Once you get to the top of the stairs... prepare to be insulted and disrespected by the female bouncer named "Anna" waiting to check your ID as she decides whether you're worthy enough to get into a college bar! I made the mistake of looking down at my cell phone completely unaware of her presence and walking in after I saw a large group of people leave... and this lady Anna was sitting behind the door in such a way where it was impossible to know she was there and that she even worked for the bar. So I assumed that it is ok to walk in... and out of nowhere this lady starts screaming at me and telling me to get off the line because I'm banned. Wow this was a mindf***. What did I do to deserve this... wait for 15 minutes and then not realize that it wasn't OK to walk in... I imagine this somehow interrupted her power trip. Worst part about it is as I tried to explain that I was sorry for breaking the rules and that I just didn't realize that I had to wait for her (because this was my first time at the bar)... it caused this savage beast to become more angry and viscous. I'll pass on this bar in the future... My advice is to try and get your friends to go somewhere else in the neighborhood... a bar that actually appreciates your business and treats you with a little dignity. I felt absolutely humiliated in front of a line of impatient college kids who have nothing better to do than make fun of the person who cant get inside to see his friends.

Great space, poorly managed. – The Heights has two different places to eat: an interior with nice big windows that they open in summer and a rooftop. The clientele is overwhelmingly composed of Columbia students.

The food is mediocre and so are the drinks.

The service ranges from ok to downright awful. You get the impression that they must think recently post-adolescent girls in short skirts will keep the place afloat. Maybe they're right, but I'm anxious for someone else to take this space over and capitalize on its great spaces.

One day I won't ever get back – My friends and I went to the Heights bar and grill today and let's just say we we're highly dissapionted. First we walked in what looked like an apartment turned into a restaurant. The waitres was very rude, she told us to sit wherever in a tone that says she didn't give a flying MOUSES BHUTT. We sat down to order and our food took 30 to 40 minutes give and take a few. The lady that was serving us was very unprofessional because she sat down beside us and was eating and would approach us and others with her mouth full. Our drinks never came and so we had to consistently remind her and that took a whole hour. In the end the only thing we were satasfied with was the water and the beautiful location. After that two tumbs down. Pro- price, location and water; con- food and service.

Now if I was a true addıct, I'd be addicted to their food. It is so freakin good I can barely stand it. Fortunately, I do have to be in the mood for something that heavy, but if you love your meat and potatoes, there is no other place like Heights?s Bar and Grill. The price is right and the food is down right awesome. They definately have the cure for what ails you!!!

Behind closed doors – the food may be tasty, served by a friendly staff, but administration does not earn a star in this review. I recently learned from an inside source that the food was being prepared by illegal underpaid immigrants and the food is served by staff who are paid at a flat rate per hour, did I mention under the table? Oh yeah, employees dont pay taxes on those wages and the employer doesn't provide them with overtime, health insurance and probably saves a bundle with the IRS. Explains why people are overcharged for their drinks and food. Those employees earn this one star.

Decent margaritas, TERRIBLE SERVICE!! – Went with a group of friends on a Friday afternoon and ordered drinks at the bar upstairs. The bartender was friendly, and the drinks were good. Since there were no seats at the bar, we asked to be seated, and the waitress (short, dark skin, curly hair) said that she would not sit us unless we ordered food. There was no place else to sit and the roof was completely EMPTY! Some of us decided we would be fine ordering food, so we were seated. When it came time to place our order, our waitress (a blonde with glasses) said that we did not order enough food and she would not take our order until we were ready to order more. Needless to say, the food was terrible (nachos are disgusting, chicken fingers are dry), and the waitress was one of the rudest people I have met. In addition, she tacked on a hefty 20% tip for her inattentiveness to our bill. We were ignored and treated poorly. This place has a good location and margaritas, but needs better staff and a better cook. Avoid at all costs if possible.

Columbia students turn out in throngs for inexpensive Southwestern-influenced bar food and potent margaritas. – The Scene
Located a stone's throw from Columbia, The Heights is a classic student hangout that offers cheap drinks and loud conversation. In warmer months, large windows usher in a breeze while students cluster around the bar drinking frozen margaritas in a rainbow of flavors like passion fruit. Head up a steep flight of stairs to access the charming, intimate roof deck, which features a retractable rooftop and additional seating.

The Food
The mostly Mexican menu offers a wide array of inexpensive burritos, burgers, salads and sandwiches. Queso fundido is a cheese lover's dream, but snap it up quick, before it becomes cumbersome to scoop. The renowned wings come in mild, wild and--eek!--inhuman, and deserve their delicious reputation. A red chili shrimp burrito manages to taste light, even though it's stuffed with fixin's.
