OK French Food; Terrible Service – In NYC you can get good French food. I would say this was pretty good, but no better than food you could at any cute French bistro around your neighborhood corner.

With that said, aside from the entrees our experience was sub-par at best. My boyfriend's tuna tartar was the worst we've ever tasted. The fish tasted as if it had been sitting out there for days and the cilantro was overpowering.

The worst part was the service! We didn't even go at peak time - around 9:30 pm. We waited forever to have our order taken, and then felt very rushed. We didn't see our waiter again until the check. No one asked us we wanted a drink or anything.

Not what I expect from the cute neighborhood French bistro. I won't be going back. There are far better French bistros on every other corner of this city. Don't waste your time.

Don't Face The Music – Worst service I've ever experienced. Asked the manager to change the dreadful Euro-blare music. He said, "You can pay your check and leave." Was essentially thrown out, a check immediately proffered. Couldn't talk to him, he kept walking past, ignoring me. No chance to order dessert and coffee, no one was waiting for the table. The bartender was even more hostile. I was ejected. One guide cites service here as "Parisian indifference." That's being generous. Food isn't worth going there for either.

Boring and Dull - Why Bother – Maybe because it was Sunday, maybe because it was Father's Day. It felt like the staff was doing you a favor when they served a roll or refilled a water glass. Mediocre would be kind. Boring would be more on point. A waste describes the check. Dull, dull, dull without any imagination. Really sad.

Quintessential bistro without all the attitude – My fiance and I end up here at LEAST once a week, especially during warm weather. Service is fine and friendly, and whether you're in a rush or you want to take your time, no problem. This place is the polar opposite of Cafe d'Alsace, where you have no elbow room, are rushed in and out, and are upsold at every possible chance. The food is always great: So fresh, and prepared in a way that's at once authentic, and creative. Even the roasted half-chicken with sauteed spinach and whipped potatoes is a nice surprise, and that's about as boring as you can get. Try the vol-au-vent for your appetizer, if you have the calories to spare.

A GREAT change in Jacques – I have gone to jacques for over a year now. I live in the area and many of the other resturant's are a little to "in" or "hip". I went to school in Europe and I really feel back when I eat at Jacques. The staff has not been the best in the last few months however I found out that the GM was let go and replaced with not one but two people. I guess they really want the job done, point being I have seen a great change and not only the service but in everything 100%. I recommend that if you have been there in the past to try the place again. You will enjoy it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of my favorite's – I have been a follower of Jacques since it was a small bistro. I have gone with large groups, small intimate parties, family, and it has never failed me yet. The staff is very attentive and treat you as if they have known you all your life. The food is great- the steak frites is one of the best and the Mussels/Belgium beer special is unbeatable. I am addicted to the warm chocolate souffle- I feel like I go to heaven with every bite.

Not bad t'all – Very nice atmosphere. I would reccommend reservations. My friend and I decided to sit at the bar, rather than wait it out for a table. Wait staff was pleasant and sociable. Had delicious steak tartare- really the best I've had in a while and j'adore le cuisine francais. Very good date resturant. Quiet enought to converse. Please do not bring young children. I love kids,in fact I teach, but this really is a good place for adults to have grown up conversation and fussing young children will not be appreciated.

Hard review to write – I remember discovering Jacques almost 2 years ago, I could not stop raving about the place, the food the amazing brunch. My husband took me here before proposing to me in the park, devine! However, the last 4 visits have been a HUGE disappointment to myself and our friends. The last visit being the absolute worst where they did not even have ice!! Who cannot have ice in this city? The quality of the brunches seemed to go further and further downhill, my eggs benedict completely stopped having any kind of runny yolk and the service got from relaxed to horizontal (we waited nearly an hour to order food last time, the place was empty of guests - and apologies). The first few times we thought it must be an off thing, but the chances have all been given, we are off to Panorama Cafe for brunch now... shame.

Le Yum – The UES from 70 on up is a veritable wasteland of good restaurants. That being said, this restaurant is a PLEASANT surprise. They consistently offer good French dishes that won't kill your wallet. My fiance and I eat here about once a month or more (during our steak frites cravings) and every time we leave full and happy. The steak is fresh, very nicely prepared and never has that meaty taste. The fries are scrumptious! Brunch here is a good deal as well, you get a drink, your entree and a huge helping of fries for the table. Would definitely recommend for a romantic night out.

A DATE WITH MY BABY... – Jacques was one of the best expiriences I have had. The food was most amazing in its richness. I was very much more than pleased with my scallop dinner and my boyfriend's choice of duck. The portions were small but very filling. When searching for restaurants I always look for a price range so... (Appitizers are about $8 and Entrees $16-23). But trust me, it is worth the money! I would recommend it to all who wish to really treat themselves or a loved one to a special occasion. Thank you Danny my baby @>--/----
