40.775416 -73.956471Extremely small portions, low quality food, poor service. We live only 2 blocks away & decided to try Samalita's the other night. There were not many people in the place, as it was raining. I got a salad and my boyfriend ordered the fajita's and a margarita; the margarita was terrible (almost all mix & no tequila) and both dishes were so small that we were still hungry after leaving and went out for pizza. Even though the place was almost empty, it took quite some time before the waitress finally came over to deliver the bill?.i would not recommend at all; there are much better Mexican restaurants in the area.
Bridal Shower. I went here for a bridal shower a few weeks ago, and I don't think anyone was impressed. The place is cute, but the service was awful. We should have had the entire restaurant, but the manager let some random lady sit up at the bar because she was a "regular." The food was not that great either. The manager was extremely rude to everyone. I would not recommend this place at all.
Abismal service. Just abismal service. Pity, since the food is not half bad.
Terribe Servie and Mediocre. The staff was inattentive. We received our requested water at the same time as our check. Still not sure who our server was. They also charged us for Salsa and hot sauce. The food was not bad but not great or worth what we paid. I would not recommend this restaurant there is better Mexican in the neighborhood.
Rude, rude, rude and bland food!!. Some friends and I ate here and had a terrible experience. We paid $7 for a teeny portion of completely mediocre chips and salsa. The white wine sangria was terrible and tasted like margarita mix. In general the food was bland, even when we requested it spicy, and not particularly fresh. But the worst part of the evening was that while we were spending well over $100 on the meal, the owner was complaining that half our party was late (I offered to wait at the bar until we all were there; she sat me anyway), that we took too long to order and that we were staying too long because we wanted to get dessert. I've never been treated so poorly or seen an owner so desperate for turn-over. It ruined our whole night.
Thank You Samalita!. I went to Samalita's after work with some friends and was pleasantly greeted by Samalita and her attentive staff. Fast forward to three hours, four margaritas (which, by the way were the best frozen strawberry margaritas I have EVER had!) , two orders Chorizo and Papas Quesadillas (the first round was so good that we doubled up!) later, and we had exchanged numerous belly laughs with the woman in charge! What started out as a normal dinner with friends, ended up to be one of the best dinners of my life! I highly recommend this priceless gem in the mostly over-priced Upper East Side!
Great Find!. I went to Samalita's last weekend with a few friends and had a great time! After a long work week it was the perfect place to unwind with a few friends, sip some fabulous margaritas, and munch on some homemade mexican treats. The waitstaff was so friendly and accomodating that it seems impossible to have a negative experience there. Thank you so much for being such a pleasant environment. A restaurant like that is so hard to find nowadays!
Really fabulous. I highly encourage you to try this restaurant. I was there last night and "Sam" herself waited on us. Her family recipes are amazing- go with the steak fagita and you won't be disappointed.
