Nasty service. Good food. – We live in Hell's Kitchen, and often go to brunch nearby. Film Center has a tasty brunch for just $13.

BUT the service was the worst I've experienced. We didn't leave a a tip. Why? She didn't do anything. We were seated near the front of the restaurant, and it took over 10 minutes for someone to see if we wanted water. We were looking disgruntled, but no one took note. About 10 minutes later, a young perky blonde comes up and asks us if we want to order food. Um, how about some water? So we ordered water and coffee.

Another 10 minutes and no water. She was chatting with another watress, and not bothering to get us water. We asked one of the busboys to get us water and it arrived right away. Then our sugar packets, were completely wet, and we couldn't use the sugar. And again, none of the waitresses would look in our direction, or even come over when we waved. Again, the busboy immediately gave me new sugar when we asked. The busboys also served our food, and asked if everything was ok. Then, when we drank all our water, no one came around to refill it for quite some time. Again, we asked the busboy to get us more water.

I thought it might be just us, or our watress, but the other two tables near the fron of the restaurant were also being dissed. The watiresses are very pretty. They wear very fashionable clothes. They stand around looking pretty and not lifting a finger.

We left NO tip. WHy should we, when the waitress collects 20% tip of the bill, when the busboys do all the actual work, and get paid nothing, under the table? After we left, I felt that we should have handed a $20 to the busboy, who was far friendlier, and customer-oriented. I am still debating complaining to the manager, but for all I know, the manager might just be the airhead who was seating people.

I foudn the service horrendous, and unethical at the least, for the waitresses to collect tips for doing absolutely nothing more than taking orders.

AWFUL – This restaurant puts on a good show--modern decor, and a stocked bar. Once you sit down,it goes downhill!!!

Our waitress was nice, but lazy and pretty stupid. It took us 5 minutes just to GET OUR DRINKS ORDERED.

The tuna was dry, the pizza was disgusting, and the salsa tasted old.Worst of all--the manager sat at a table right next to us and ATE DINNER,never asking us if we needed more drinks or take our plates away.

NOT ONLY BAD SERVICE---BAD FOOD!!!!!!!!!!

Great brunch – I love the brunch here, maybe the unlimited cocktails for $20 makes the food taste that much better, but I always have a great meal, and it's a fun place to bring out of town guests. The sangria is a standout in the city!

Reliable Neighborhood Joint – Living in the neighborhood, I've been to Film Center numerous times. The service is always good and the food is always reliable. I often go for drinks and they have some very tasty specialty cocktails

What Happened ?? – Third time back here since reopening. We have had a wonderful meal each time. The FOURTH TIME however, was not good at all. Everything we had tasted old or just not fresh. The fish seemed to have diminished in quality. The skirt steak was the only thing (of the several things we tried) that was still good. Waitress was nice but knew NOTHING about the menu or the wine. When we asked she did manage to tell us that the Chef left and that this might account for the difference in food. I'm afraid I wont be giving this place another chance. I sadly, am changing my review to NOT recommended.

Not Good Anymore – Everything we had was overcooked. A few months ago... great, now: STINKS. I really don't think there is anymore to say. NEVER AGAIN.

Did I say NEVER !?

BAD food, terrible service – I ate here with my boyfriend who was visiting from out of town, and the terrible food left us both steamed and feeling a bit ill.. I had a spinach and beet salad - and the beets were completely dry. He had a sad excuse for a burger, and couldn't even finish half of it - and the fries were disgusting! We were suspicious when we walked in and saw the place was completely empty, and should have trusted our instincts. It's altogether maddening when you get food and service that is this bad in new york. I live in the area and will be pleased when the day comes I walk by and see this place has gone out of business. Don't go there!

Love This Place ! – I met a friend here for dinner who had been here before, and I was very impressed. She said I had no idea what a dive this place was before, but no more. We had a really good meal with some good wine. I had the meatloaf which was awsome, she had cod which I did not taste but which she said was quite good. Love this place !

American grub spot in Hell's Kitchen gets a bright, airy makeover. – The Scene
This go-to spot for the TV and film industry has experienced a major metamorphosis. The new design boasts plenty of natural light and open street views from the high-backed leather stools at the bar. Amber back-lit wine racks and glowing red candles warm the dining room's banquettes, which are perfect for lounging while waiting for the kitchen to work out its timing issues.

The Food
Starters are sharable: Try the crispy cheese quesadilla laced with sweet onions or the smoky battered rock shrimp that delivers on both punch and tanginess. A basic French onion soup is sadly unseasoned as is an overcooked steak frites, which comes with an oversized serving of bearnaise. Play it safe and order a burger--from veggie to Kobe--or juicy fried chicken with garlicky mashed potatoes. Desserts are lackluster, especially a caramelized banana split that would receive rave reviews if not for the ice cream's freezer burn.
