Amazing service – Very happy with our Saturday dinner before the show. Good food, fast and efficient service. Will be back!
BEWARE OF CREDIT CARD THEFT! I've eaten there many times and love the food but the service has consistently been pretty bad and this time was the last straw. I recently went back and had a meal and the next day there were over $2,000 in fraudulent charges on my credit card! Don Giovanni was the only place I'd used my credit card which was in my possession always until I paid my bill there so obviously one of the low class pieces of trash workers swiped my info. Never again!
Not worth it – Not worth a visit. There are 100 better Italian restaurants in Times Square/Hell's Kitchen. The service was slow and inattentive. We had a party of 7 (so they graciously added an 18% gratuity). One woman in my party asked if a certain soup has tomato in it since she is allergic. The waiter said no and brought her a soup with a tomato base-it was the main ingredient! 3 of us ordered sodas. The 2 cokes had syrup but no carbonation, the sprite had carbonation but no syrup. We explained this to the waiter, and received brand new sodas with the same problems. We also ordered 2 bottles of water for the table (which were expensive), and they kept bringing more without asking us. Then the food- BLAND AT BEST. The only reason this restaurant received 2 stars is that the ambience is a nice family Italian place. If you are in the mood for an overpriced drink after a play, go ahead but DO NOT EAT the food, you will be dissatisfied.
Editorial Review – Brick-oven pizza, pasta, heros and classic Italian entrees at reasonable prices in a casual setting.
Best pizza anywhere!!! – Eatting at Don Giovanni's is always a treat!!! Every single time we eat there we find something new and exciting in the menu, and it seems like one dish is better then the other. for the inexpensive menu, the friendly waiters and the italian music, this place is the perfect spot for any occasion. if we have vegetarians among us, fish lovers or just the ones who likes to eat A LOT, Don Giovanni is the place to go!!
Don't be fooled by the crowd – It smelled heavenly. It looked crowded and it seemed everyone was enjoying themselves. But the food didn't live up to the hype.
I know, my fault for rationalizing good taste, but the roasted garlic scent just drew me in.
We sat down, and we had to hail a waiter for our menus. Granted it was crowded, but they pointed us to a table and didn't bother with the menus?!!
Then we placed our orders and waited for our appetizer...and waited...and waited. It was worth the wait, but the entree was mediocre and even a little dry for a cream sauce.
Look, it's a family oriented restaurant...but a restaurant should serve food better than what they can make at home.
If you see this place and smell it, don't do what I did...keep walking.
Questionable! – I just had dinner at this place and I am hoping it stays with me through the night. The place was just plain dirty..... forks, knives and even my wine glass were "grimey"....they did not feel clean to the touch so no telling what bacteria/germs I just ingested. The menus were so grimey and greasy I had to go wash my hands. The bruschetta was aweful...not what you normally expect...the tomatoes were soggy with some vinegar sauce that was gross and the bread was old and smelled funny. The pasta was good... I just hope the plate was cleaned that it was on! The service was terrible....slow, slow, slow! I felt sorry for the waiter...while he was very nice.....not sure if he was overwhelmed or just not cut out for this profession.....I believe it was the latter. Our order was messed up....and dessert never came, so we just got the check and left. We chose this place as we had been walking all day and our feet hurt.....we should have endured the pain and gone another block to somewhere else.
Service From HELL – The service at this resturaunt is terrible... I have heard the food is good but it is certainly not worth dealing with the staff.
Really Solid! – This is what every neighborhood needs - a good solid Italian restaurant with no pretensions. The pizza is thin and crispy with fresh ingredients; the fettucine pasta with chicken and spinach in garlic and olive oil was simple and perfect. The bread wasn't great, but with the portion sizes, we didn't need it anyway. Service was fast and friendly. This is my new neighborhood italian eatery!
Excellent – The food here is great, especially the brick oven pizza. Reasonably priced and it's a nice cozy atmosphere.
