Bad food, but worse service. On Saturday, April 3rd 2010 we stepped into. We were 4 guys for a working lunch.

The restaurant was almost empty, actually only one table was occupied.

We asked for a large (6 places) table to be more comfortable. The waiter refused, and when I said it was a working lunch hhe answered "this is a restaurannt, not an office"...

The frosen Margarita was not even cold. When I insisted that it was not frozen (remember - not even cold) the waiter just took it, even without offering something else.

The food was below average, one of us even didn't continue to eat after tasting - do you think anybody asked if he wanted anything else?

The following day I felt sick, just to complete the visit...

Too bad - but beware not to fall there like we did.

Great Place. This is a wonderful place. I have enjoyed many dinners here and much sangria. I only got seriously ill twice. Nearly blew my pancreas out. One of my colleagues sent me a recent board of health report which was an interesting read. I'd recommend heartily!!!

Got sick from the food. Went to this place last Saturday. Food made me terribly sick, and it was a day before I could keep anything down except water and light food.

Went by to speak with manager Mauricio the next day since I didn't want to put up the review before management had a chance to respond.

I was kept waiting 10 minutes at the bar in spite of asking to speak to the manager as soon as I entered. When he finally came to see me, he gave me a minute before going away again. When he came back another few minutes later, all he would say was that Viva Pancho had been in place for many years without a problem. I mentioned I would be writing a review, and there was no response. He was even reluctant to give me his name.

Summary: Skip this one!

good food, drinks & atmosphere. I ate at Viva Pancho recently, because someone recommended it to me, and I was not disappointed, but happily impressed! The waiter was indeed VERY courteous, and was in full Mexican attire with a sombrero to boot! I and my friend had sangria, which was excellent, and they give you a lot for the price! Their half carafe is the size of most places full carafe!! Also, I had seafood enchiladas, which were also excellent. And although the chips and salse weren't my absolut fav, they were very good all the same! I would definitely go back! Very reasonable prices!!

Not tasty enough. Maybe being from SF and being used to good mexican food has something to do with my comment:

I had a chile relleno that tasted old, rice wasn't cooked all the way and the salsa was not tasty enough.

I had dinner at this place 10 years ago and it was the same. I really hope that they improve on flavor since the location is superb!

Stay away from this one.. I ordered a chicken dish, which was shredded chicken, tasted old. I hardly ate it. Thanks goodness for the chips and salsa. They were overcrowed the night we were there, and stuck us in the middle of an aisle between two tables. I ordered a frozen Mudslide and the bartender didn't know how to make it. Considering this place was in the heart of Times Square, I would have thought it would have been better. Also, considering the line we were in to get into the place, I thought it would have been much better. In my opinion, there are too many other good Mexican Restaurants in NYC. I would stay away from this one.

Decent Mexican. This is a Classic mexican joint- chips/salsa before dinner with typical dishes including beans and rice with cheese and salsa on everything. Service was okay, food was decent, nothing fancy, probably expected more due to the location. Being in the heart of Times Square this is not a bad value for the money but nothing extroidinary.

GREAT Steak Fajitas!!. VERY courteous waiters bring bowls of chips and salsa and a glass of ice water to your table within minutes of seating you. They take your order (I always order Steak Fajitas here) and they serve you your main dish VERY quickly. Powerful Margaritas too. This place is rather expensive, but it's right in the heart of Times Square/Theatre District and if you like Mexican food, the quality and deliciousness can't be beat.

Good Spot. I went here on a Weds night. Not crowded, got a table right away. The food is good, not too spicy but tasty, however I do not recommend the margaritas, try the Sangria instead.
