Best Bangladeshi seafood in NYC – Best Indian seafood I've ever had. Super fresh, great variety of dishes, comes with lots of extras, large family-friendly portions. Blue fish curry, shrimp bhuna and various nans are especially good. Service is consistent and friendly, delivery is fast, this is one of my favorite restaurants in the whole city. Cons: non-seafood offerings are fine, but nothing to jump up and down about. Also, the rice is just ... meh. Overall, however, a fantastic place. I wish I could give it 6 stars.
Finger Picking Good – As we were waiting for our order, the waiter entertained himself by picking, plucking, and rolling his boogers while standing two tables away from us. I guess he forgot that the dining area was surrounded by mirrors. Yuck!!!!!!!!!
Shockingly Bad Service! – We went there for dinner and the service was terrible! Our main coarse was brought out while we were still eating our appetizers, and the guy just slung the plates on the table with food falling off, and pushing our appetizer plates out of the way - forget about asking who ordered what. While still eating our dinner, someone else came over and started clearing our table. We weren't asked if we were finished - which we weren't - food still on the plates. And, reaching in front of a customer while eating is such a basic service no no. Our waiter never came back to check on us to ask if everything was okay or if we even wanted something else to drink. It was really disappointing. There are other restaurants in the neighborhood with much better service so we won't be back.
Great atmosphere, great food – One of the few restaurants in Washington Heights I will go to regularly, and one of the few to choose from in the area, unfortunately. Kismat has a wonderful atmosphere and attentive servers. Although I'm not an expert in Indian food, I've always been very pleased with everything I've ordered, and always leave full and satisfied. Nice decor, too. A very popular local hangout, but never too crowded or frenetic, either.
not a great delivery option – I was excited to find this restaurant, but my delivery experiences with them have not been great. On more that one occasion, they just don't answer their phone. When they do answer and take your order, the delivery time on average has been about an hour. I'm always surprised when they don't answer their phone, you'd think they wouldn't want to turn away business. One time they just said, no, delivery is out for 10 minutes and hung up on me. It's very rude and a real bummer when you've gotten yourself all primed for their food.
What a great DELIVERY find! – Living in the Heights I'm not sure there's any other Indian restaurant here. It was a nice surprise that this place has decent food. I've only tried the lamb kurma and samosas, but the menu is really extensive. There is certainly worse Indian food to be had, and the price is reasonable. Plus they have a large delivery range.
good curry – The salmon curry was a surprise, very good. Samosas are great and travel well for take-out. It's not listed, but they'll do a side of spinach curry. best take out in neighborhood.
glad they're here! – Always good their take-out. Am happy to have Indian food in the neighborhood. Try the lamb curry and the samosas!
