This shop teaches its customers to be linguini-literate. – The Scene
One block north of the 92nd Street Y is a unique culinary bookstore catering to cooks and other food buffs. The small shop is home to hundreds of popular titles by top food critics and chefs, with titles broken down alphabetically into categories including baking, pasta and world regions.

The Goods
In addition to what's on display, Kitchen Arts' offers a catalog appealing to anyone on a food mission--such as the diehard desperately in search of an out-of-print title containing Mom's old meatloaf recipe. The staff is well informed, offering helpful tips on choosing the right book for your palate. And if a little effort spent over the stove proves that the match isn't quite right? Don't fret: Every purchase comes with a bookmark that doubles as a receipt.
