Purchased a bedroom set and mattress at Waukesha location. Salesman assured us more than once that deliverymen would remove our waterbed if we disassembled it. Furniture was delivered and halfway through assembly I decided to confirm that they would remove waterbed. They informed me that they do not remove anything except old mattresses. Called store and delivery supervisor confirmed that policy. My salesman was not working that day. I refused delivery and told them to return furniture to the store. They finally agreed to remove my waterbed headboard. Very disappointing service and dishonest salespeople.
Liars, Cheaters, Stealers – If you want to buy anything from this business, be ready to go into battle. We went to this store to purchase a new television because they had an amazing sale going on. However, when we got there they were apparently "sold out" except for the floor display set. They wouldn't reduce the price either. When we finally agreed to buy it and the men were called over to take to tv to packaging they said, "Why this one? There's like 12 more in back"
Then after we asked about it, they "double-checked" and said there werent any others.
After paying we waited over a half hour at the loading doors because they "lost" our tv.
Then we finally got the tv and there was no manual. We asked for the manual and they brought us one to a completely different tv.
The remote was not there either. When we went to get a refund without even leaving the premises we had to wait another half hour. Then the Manager was being a complete jerk (Excuse the term).
Ater they finished refunding our money, on our way out they were unloading new televisions of the exact same brand and model by the tvs.
Sells Damaged Merchandise - RUN FAR AWAY!!! – I bought an over-the-range microwave in stainless steel. Price was decent. When it arrived, the box was beat up and there was a dent in the stainless steel door. I arranged to have another one shipped for replacement. The second one arrived with the box all taped up. I open it and it was full of packing peanuts. General Electric does not ship their merchandise with packing peanuts!!! This too was damaged with a huge dent in the side. I called and they offered a 3rd. When the 3rd came, it too was damaged. IT had been dropped on the corner and unit was caved in. I told them I wanted this one returned also and wanted a refund. They apparently have been charging me shipping charges on all shipments, even though this was never disclosed! I am stuck paying returned shipping.

Service after the sale? – I purchased a new refrigerator from American 8 years ago and have had it maintained by them since. They also sold us a maintenance contract on the closed system covering 10 years. We noticed the refrigerator was not cooling adequate and in fact the freezer was no longer freezing...we called and were given a repair date a week away! After indicating that may be fine for couch it was not adequate for a food storage unit they gave us a date 4 days away. After the Tech checked the unit he indicated it was not the closed system but a fan which was not covered by the warranty purchased. $225 later he leaves. 5 hours later still no cooler! After calling and asking to have the repairman sent back, I was informed the earliest he could come was more than a week away! Again I voiced my dismay, requested to speak to the supervisor or department manager and was put on hold for over 10 minutes with several ringing/hold times in between. The woman then said she had been trying to find a tech who could come out sooner, but was not successful. She indicated she would talk to some techs when they came in after their rounds and someone would call back before 6PM. That was Friday night. It is now Monday afternoon and I called again and asked to speak to the service manager. Aaron said he would transfer me. After several times of being placed back on hold Veronica picked up and again I requested the service manager. I was then disconnected. I called back and asked for the general manager who was out today and the receptionist asked if she could transfer to someone else and what it was regarding. I explained it and she connected me to Kelly a supervisor in the service department. She checked the file and the schedule and found a time to send them back out for tomorrow and could not explain why the others didn't see the opening...in the mean time I've thrown out hundreds of dollars worth of food and it still doesn't work. We shall see tomorrow...but the trip was horrible
awesome service – The store and grounds are well kept, the associates are freindly and knowledgeable.
The selection is better then anywhere else.
Its very rare to find stores with this type of quality service anymore. I have been told that this fall 2002, they are remodeling this location with state of the art displays, and increased product selection.
The biggest thing I appreciate is that they truly care about meeting my needs, and ask questions to understand my needs. These days you very rarely find stores that truly care about serving their customers.
