Stay Away from it! – I always wanted to try one of the famous Italian restaurants on Arthur Ave but I live in Nj so it is not that close. Yesterday I took my family to the zoo in the Bronx and decided to have dinner at one of the best Italian restaurants in the area. Read a few reviews and Emilia's was the 3rd runner up on my choices (choices one and two - unfortunately were closed on Sundays). So went in, atmosphere seems to be ok they had a couple of tables but was not crowded, nor was I expecting it since it was Sunday night. Bread and olives/tomatoes was very nice - served at the beginning and probably was the best of our food experience :(

Asked waiter for a suggestion since it was my first time at that restaurant, ordered, food came out and then everything went downhill from there. I ordered a seafood dish and the mussels and clams smelled funny. our waiter never brought our drinks and had our food with water that was initially served; in fact, our waiter never came back to check on us to see if we needed anything after serving the food! M family also was not particularly impressed with their order. At the end we asked for the check and another waiter delivered it, I guess our waiter's shift ended. When I mentioned to the waiter about the drinks, the shellfish not being fresh he only said ok. No apologies, no sense of customer service whatsoever. I was not expecting to get away with anything except at least to acknowledge the fact that food quality and service was not that good.

I probably went in with high expectations, I enjoy good Italian food and i love restaurants in Little Italy in Manhattan, but Emilia's on Arthur Ave just didn't do it for me. Will never go back to this place, stay away from it, I am sure there are plenty of option on the same street but for me is not worth the trip and the hassle.

Great lunch experience – Came to Arthur Avenue for lunch, Was going to go to Mario's but it was closed for vacation. So I opted for Emilia's across the street. What a great choice! Though the place was crowded, we were seated within 5 minutes, and the service, food, and prices were better than I expected. We had the Frutta Di Mare and Chicken Daniela which were both excellent. Both entrees were under $12. Desserts were to die for. Looking forward to going back.

Great night on Arthur Avenue – Emilia's was the first restaurant I ever went to on Arthur Avenue, after hearing for so long how great the Italian food was there. I was certainly not disappointed. We started off our meal with a small bowl of tomatoes and FRESH mozzerella that was too good to find anywhere else but on Arthur Ave. I had the penne vodka for dinner, and I can honestly say that it was the best penne vodka I'd ever had. My boyfriend and I both got the black forest cake for dessert, and it was absolutely fantastic! If you're looking for a good Italian meal, Emilia's is definitely worth a try :)

this was our first restaurant experience in the neighborhood. we arrived and to our dismay, there was no waiting area, except just inside the door where we were standing over other diners. the hostess didn't seem like a very professional hostess. we ended up waiting well over an hour to be seated. the hostess sat at a table with diners the entire time we waited. we finally ended up in a 2 person table in the back of the restaurant. i must say, the service was absolutely horrible. after waiting for another 30 minutes, our order was finally taken, and then we never saw our server again, and once our meals came out, we never saw runners or bussers again. we were very vocal to the other servers at the tables near us that we were being completely ignored because there was only two of us and our server was more concerned with his bigger tables where he would get a bigger tip. we were truly completely ignored. we had to ask another server to order dessert, and another server to bring our bill. our server did not care at all. and on top of that, the food was just ok. nothing better than you might find in tourist little italy in manhattan, with the same prices. and we all know how poor quality that food is. between the hostess (an older blonde lady), the nearly two hours spent between walking in the door and getting our food, and our unattentive server, i doubt we will be back. i sure hope we can find somewhere decent in this neighborhood!

Home style southern italian! – Having spent endless summers in Sicily, I can vouch for this place. If you want great southen Italian at a great price and family-friendly enviroment, then have a meal at Emilia's. If you want an empty dish at a high price then go to an upscale place in the city. I had to try the "arancine and panelle" as well as the stuffed peppers as an appetizer to really see what this place was made of. Absolutely the real thing! We had the stuffed rainbow trout and lobster ravioli and baby shrimp in vodka sauce, delizioso!! Not restaurant quality...simply like home. Nunzio, we'll be back!! Buon appetito!

This experience was the best Italian I've ever had – I seek out great Italian food. Living in California, I eat my way through New York. At Emilia's the lobster ravioli made my knees weak. The stuffed chicken Gamberi is fit for even the toughest meat loving man crowd, and the stuffed mushrooms with gorgonzola were amazing. Add some Montepulciano....you are in heaven. It was worth the train ride.

Best Italian Food in NYC – I went to school at Fordham 15 years ago and had fond memories of fantastic Italian food at Emilia's. My wife (also a Fordham grad) and I returned here with some family last weekend and it was just as good as we remembered. I had the best penne ala vodka I've ever had in my entire life. Everyone was very pleased with their meals and the price for four people with drinks was very reasonable.

The service was very attentive eventhough it was very crowded (even at 5pm).

I can't wait to go back again!

No Better Than Okay – I had heard about this restaurant, was in the neighborhood and decided to give it a shot. The food and service were okay, and it was not cheap. One appetizer and two main courses the house carafe wine for $100. Can't say that I would go back. I had the braised lamb shank which was underdone and came w/ saffron rice and overcook vegetables. Uninspired. This was not good Italian cuisine.

Best Italian Food!!! – I am Italian and have travelled the world...Emilia's Restaurant hands down has the best food anywhere. The owner/chef, Nunzio and his wife Patricia makeyou feel like part of the family...they will go out of there way to make you feel at home. The fried calamari can't be beat. The sauce is better than my mother's (I'd never tell her). Reservations are always good but they will do their best to get you in. If you want the best you have to go to Emilia's.

Great Italian Food! – My family and I go to the bronx all the time just to eat at Emilia's! We stumbled upon Emila's while browsing at the Feast of St. Anthony's. The first time I ate there I ordered Rigatoni alla vodka and I thought it was the best I have ever tasted. The prices are reasonable and the service was quite friendly and prompt. I give Emilia's two thumbs up!
