shouldnt be a secret anymore. by far one of the best arthur avenue experiences I have had thus far...the food was exceptional, the ambience like no other..and service impeccable..Prior to the new ownership, this was one of my favorite restaurants in NYC known as amici's, now de'Medici has surpassed that status to MY FAVORITE RESTAURANT period..Words can do no justice, trust that you will not be disappointed and you will be thinking about your next visit before you leave...
Great food, wonderful ambiance, and entertainment on Wednesdays.
On the advice of a friend, I took a trip to the "Little Italy" section of the Bronx to see what all the fuss was about regarding deMedici Restaurant. I've been to the area many times before, but this restaurant was like taking a step back in time. As soon as you walk in you get this warm, cozy feeling from the dark wood, copper ceiling, and period lighting. It just so happens we caught a wonderful duo called Luigi & Arlette who play there every Wedneday evening. The entertainment rivaled anything I've seen in The City, and the best part, we were there to eat.
Since we were eight in total, we ordered everything from pasta dishes to steak. Judging by the presentation and overall quality, I can best describe deMedici as a blend between a fine Italian restaurant, and an excellent steak house. And if you don't see exactly what you want on the menu, Chef Laura is only to happy to please as she did when she made me cavatelli with broccoli rabe, sausage (out of the casing), with hot cherry peppers. The wine list satifies every taste and pocketbook. We started with our highest priced wine first, then worked our way down a bit, which was still reasonable.
This truly is a restaurant for ALL the senses. Enjoy!
Don't Miss This Dining Experience!.
Stopped in on a Saturday night. Stuffed pepper & portobello w/gorgonzola appetizers were to-die-for.
My wife had the chicken scarpariello with hot cherry peppers which she loved. I told the owner he accomplished a nearly impossible task.....he satisfied my wife. I had the rib steak which they were good enough to slice off the bone for me. It was tender, flavorful, perfectly cooked. Best piece of meat I ever had.
Service was friendly and attentive. Garlic mashed potatos and rigatoni dish we shared as sides were also excellent. All in all an ideal dining experience.
We were too stuffed for dessert, but drinks and coffee were also wonderful.
Proof of the pudding: we had to return the next Saturday. If you're feeling decadent and you've accomplished something to deserve a meal as good as this, treat yourself.
Editorial Review. For delicious Italian food in a friendly atmosphere visit the Italian restaurant de' Medici Cucina Italiana.
Best Kept Secret in the Bronx. I went to dinner there for the first time last night. Excellent food, great menu, great service. The owner is a true host constantly entertaining. Try the Mushrooms with Gargonzola as an appetizer, and the Penne ala Vodka, one of the best I have ever had. Don't forget the meatballs. They only had 2 dessert options though, even though they were very good. And no decaf coffee?! (The older customers usually want that). When we first parked, we thought about going somewhere else, but when you get inside it really makes you think that you are in an old authentic Italian Restaurant. The decor is something to experience all by itself.
Wonderful Food and what a Wine List!. Recently went to de' Medici for Dinner with some friends. The food was wonderful, prepared masterfully, and the wine list can please the pickiest of them all! The service was superb and the staff was very friendly, and catered to our every need. A great restaurant in Little Italy, we will be back to this wonderful "Cucina Italiana".
