This is your warning. Either West Coast is a scam or they are on the verge of going under. It certainly could be the former given they owe me $1,800 that is 6 months overdue and they no longer pickup my calls. If it is the second, your check will only pay me and you’ll be stuck waiting for the next sucker to come along. The following summarizes my experience.

On July 8th 2013, I paid West Coast Built-in Refrigerators $2,600 for a Sub-Zero 690 "with a few minor dings" to be delivered to my home in Greenbrae California. Three weeks later when I called to arrange delivery, they told me the refrigerator they sold me was sold "by the warehouse" to someone else. We offered flexibility and agreed to accept a 590 Sub-zero - an inferior model - for the same price given that our general contractor had already started construction and we were stuck.

They told us this "new" refrigerator was in great condition but they had to pick it up in Los Angeles and would deliver it to us on the way back to Oregon. We decided to ignore the fact that the company had personally not seen the refrigerator or that they could not possible “refurbish” the refrigerator before delivering it to us. (Of course, how could they say the 690 had a few minor dings when it was at the same L.A warehouse)

To make a long story short, we cancelled the delivery and asked for a refund after repeated delivery cancellations - many of which they simply did not show up. They agreed to the refund. Despite frantic promises, they have only delivered $900 and still owe us $1,800 as of today.

Do not purchase from this company!

We purchased a refurbished unit from this company in 2012. We plugged it in and it did not work. We contacted Larry and Brandee that day. We asked for our "defective merchandise" to be picked up. The item arrived after the 60 day grace period allowed by our credit card company so our only option was to trust that Brandee and Larry would keep their word and provide us the "like new working refrigerator" that we agreed to purchase as stated so clearly on our bill of sale.

We were told in writing by Brandee that WCBR would repair or replace our refrigerator. We chose to repair the unit. We were sent parts. We spent nearly 1 year waiting for parts to be shipped. We dealt with many repair men that refused to work on this refrigerator because of the way in which it was refurbished. When we sent our final bill after we finally had the unit working, Larry and Brandee sent an email referring us to the standard "parts only" warranty.

We had times throughout this period where we called more than 5 times a day during normal business hours with no-one answering our calls (and phone records to prove it). We have more than 1 occasion when an owner of this company put in writing that they would be fixing this unit. Larry himself even called and hired 1 of our repair men. His email stated "we will pay for this". That bill also went unpaid and we eventually paid it to keep our own credit from being ruined and to keep an honest working man from being stiffed by this company.

We took WCBR to court and were awarded a settlement of over $1897.91 by the Indiana superior court to cover the cost of repairs that we paid out of pocket to make this the "like-new working refrigerator" that we agreed to purchase. We took this company to court a second time for non-payment of the first court ordered settlement and won that case as well. As of the date, of this posting, this company is ignoring court orders has made no efforts to pay us. This money has been due since 2/20/2013.

In fact, the only contact that we have received from this company in the past 6 months, is when I received a voicemail from one of the owners who kindly asked me to stop writing negative reviews before they hire a lawyer (I can play this voicemail for anyone who would like to hear it). My reviews are 100% truthful and I have documentation to back up every claim I make! They are also being pulled offline.

I have been told by WCBR that my grievance should be against Sub Zero as a corporation, but I reply that Sub Zero didn't sell me defective product, negociate a deal to fix it, renig on that deal, then loose in open court. West Coast Built in Refrigerators did! Our court case is#29D04-1303-SC-002854 At the Hamilton Superior Court #4 under Judge Richard Campbell. I will update my review if we are ever paid what the court has decided is owed to us by this company. All documents that substantiate all clams that I am writing here are available in the file for this case (Edited December 07, 2013)
