I will start out by saying that I was not disappointed in the food or the service. The quality of service and food is still great, but my husband and I have been going to B&D on and off for the last 8 years for various occasions. Our previous visit was about a year ago. It was once a high end dining experience. I remember the place being packed and having to wait at least 20-30 mins to be seated even with a reservation, but we never minded because it was typically worth it. Unfortunately things have changed. The crowd at the bar is pretty much there for the bar. I don't remember ever seeing TV's at the bar before, but it's a bit of a turn off. Despite the place becoming slightly more downscale, the wine list prices have increased significantly since our last visit. We used to be able to find several decent bottles of wine in the $45-50 bottle range, now they are all much more expensive. Frankly we paid more for a bottle of wine then we did for our Porterhouse for 2 because our first wine selection was unavailable. The calamari appetizer was okay, but not great. The lobster mac & cheese side was really good as were the mashed potatoes. The steak was great, cooked perfectly. Overall it just wasn't the experience I remember it to be. I miss the amuse bouche the chef would send out, always a nice touch. Was disappointed not to have it. Also, in the past our waiter would always ask if we were celebrating any special occasion. The last time we celebrated an anniversary he was sure to have the chef paint a little message in chocolate on our dessert. Of course, could be that we typically asked for one waiter- Don- and I'm not sure if he's there anymore, but he was always great about little details like that. We typically ate and drank much more than we did on this last visit and spent less, so not only are we getting less for our money, some of the experience is gone. I don't think this will be our "Special occasion" place anymore.
After an extremely long hiatus on my part, I took the family to B&D in February and everyone raved. We went back this past Mother's Day and I was extremely disappointed, as the calamari appetizer was bland and my Ribeye was served tepid and bone-dry. Honestly, it looked like it was reheated. Others family members felt similarly. I've been to countless steakhouses and what separates the best from the rest is consistency.
Burton and Doyle has gone down hill. The sushi was fishy and the steak was dry.
The place looks tired.
Tender and tenderly – This restaurant has never prepared a single mistake. My steaks are always charred to perfection and their garlic mashed potatoes are not half bad either. The restaurant itself is extremely comfortable, and the staff is just as accommodation. I highly recommend
Great steak! – My family and I love this restaurant! It is very cozy, warm, and relaxed. The steak is like butter! The staff is very attentive, and caring. We always have a great time!
I agree with what the Owner said. – For steak lovers, this place is the tops on Long Island.
The great service, and atmosphere are a plus to their wonderful food.
B&D, is one of my favorite's . Excellent steaks, nice portions, an always consistent menu. Service is always excellent and ALWAYS attentive, never an attitude here. Be warned that you can expect a Mob scene on the weekends after 7 PM, so go early or go during week. But go.
HELLO DELICIOUS! – I'm still dreaming about the steak I ate here last night. If I went on the Atkins diet, I would eat here every week. It's so good. Definitely visit if you have the opportunity.
Yummy Steaks – We love this place, on par with Peter Lugers.
did we ctach them at a bad time ?? i hope so, whent for mothers day party of six four had porterhouse one sirloin one salmon,
the salmon was the best piece of salmon i've tasted in a long time cooked to perfection melted in my mouth, lobster bisque soup was a great dissapointment
more like a puree no lobster in this soup that went back, onion soup served in nice bowl very watered down another dissapointment, two plates of porterhouse came out not sizzeling and with no juice in pan baked potato couldn't melt the butter, when i asked for ajou they brought me a lamb and beef sauce with wine that was also cold the sirloin was good once you cut away the heavy charing, after eating for about 10 minutes someone finally came over to ask if everything was ok at this point with the food half gone we said it was ok. we complained at the end not expecting anything but to let them know what was wrong with the service they expressed there regrets and reduced the bill to our liking but that was not what i went out with my party for let me repeat that at least the fish was realy cooked to perfection but its a steak house, will we go back? probably we will see nicholis and he said he would take care of us making sure everything was a-ok
our first basket of bread, party of six consisted of three assorted rolls and some crackers at the checksigning we were given 5 after dinner chocolates for a party of six,
what can i say "caught them at a bad time"
