I love this place!! Its extremely delicious and the staff is just fabulous!
Fantastic brunch! – great food, great brunch deal! I've had several things on the menu, and I've never had anything bad. ther service is usually quick and the food is much more upscale than any diner I've ever been to. Highly recommended!
Favorite spot in the neighborhood – Since moving the Astoria, my fiance and I have been going to Sanfords a few times a month. It is our go-to place to bring family and friends, as their diverse menu has something for everyone (including vegetarians, which is a pet peeve of mine). The brunch is excellent (crab cakes benedict and I are best friends) and the dinner menu offers both sandwiches and paninis ($9-$12 w/ soup or salad- get their honey balsamic dressing!) or more upscale pastas, steaks and other entrees ($12-20). We like the restaurant so much, we are having them cater our wedding!
A dance club or Diner? which is it? – Music is way too loud! Morning afternoon and night! it's like a club! it's hard to speak to whoever your worth or have a relaxing dinner. It's a diner that's trying to be something different but do it through the food please not the music! I was going to go there tonight for one of their awsome burgers but i'm worried the music will be on high! Maybe the owner will read this and keep the music down from now on. If that changes then it will be my new spot to goto. Also... The hamburger bread is too plain for someplace that's trying to be special. A brioche is sooooo much better then wonderbread. honestly
An good quaity, upscale diner, in an area overrun with diners – Sac's is currently under renovation, but when it is open, it is a fantastic restaurant with a wonderful assortment of options. Too upscale really to be called a diner, Sanfords will hopefully re-open with better ambiance, which in the past has been its only downfall.
Nothing special – I went there a few times and I wasn't at all impressed. This place is basically a diner trying to be upscale. It servers average food and the only thing upscale or Manhattenish about it are the high manhatten prices. Those prices are just insulting to someones intelligence. The place is small and the decor is plain. Would not recommend as a place to bring a date or go with a large group as its not that spacious. As far as wine selection, they have a few wines on the counter. Overall leaves a poor taste in the mouth.
Great Brunch! – Sanford's is like an upscale diner, as they offer paninis and wraps and such in addition to the standard fare.
But those things lost their luster for me a long time ago (they're good, but nothing special)- where Sanford's REALLY shines is their weekend brunch! $11 Prix Fixe, with a mimosa or bloody mary (and coffee or juice).
However, we were dining at Indigo yesterday and we saw one of the head waiters from Sanford's there (who, btw, is just about one of the best waiters I've ever had the pleasure of being served by!). We asked him if he still worked at Sanford's, and he informed us that they're closed due to a fire on their roof last Sunday!!
I hope they open up again (and it would be a great opportunity for them to update their dull, dark decor), but in meantime...
Classic Eggs Benedict, Western Brunch Quesadilla, and Vegetable Frittata, RIP... you will be sorely missed! :)
OMG - RESTAURANT FOOD - DINER PRICES - Great Customer Service – This place looks like a diner, but has Manhattan restaurant food, at Queens prices!
I was there last saturday and ordered the 4 mushroom risotto with chicken (my usual in manhatten!), and it just melted in my mouth! It also came with a choice of soup or salad! yummy - A MUST
Was skeptical... – Ok, so the decor is a bit retro, but the menu was pretty impressive. I was worried about the reviews here before I went in, but the food was pretty good. (Not spectacular, but what do you want for a nearby diner?? I sense some folks are looking for the zagat restaurants when they write reviews. My boyfriend ordered a burger and I ordered grilled chicken with spinach/asparagus - was filling, not over the top --- I noticed a lot of the people around me got breakfast which looked fantastic. I'll be back. You have to try it and to each-his/her own when it comes to tastes, but it was fine by me.
pricey, service nothing spectacular – This place has a case of mistaken identity,...it thinks its a real restaurant. Where can I begin....for a neighborhood diner, it is quite pricey and the food is anything but extrordinary. Fronzen pasta dishes microwaved and served for over $15? Simple grilled cheese for $8? If the place looked better inside you could better justify it but its got diner booths. anyway, too pricey for me. Could find a better deal elsewhere...
