Heights cafe use to be good years ago not anymore, there have been vast changes in terms of service and food quality. My burger and fries were over cooked and burned.
The short waitress who is there Sat, sun and Mon nights is a wreck forgets refills and messes up my orders some short girl with dark hair and a tail. The prices have doubled on everything including the drinks will not be back here.
bar atmosphere saves the store – If it wasn't for the bar don't think heights cafe would have stayed open this long. I had alot of different things with each visit and sometimes it makes me feel like how could I travel from crown heights just to hang here even though I have been to other stores in the heights. The service is hit or miss depending on whose there. The short girl with the dark hair was something else told her wanted my bacon burger medium rare, it came out over cooked and burned bacon was as hard as a rock. My fries came out really soggy. I had to ask for my glass of red wine three times before she finally brought it to me and a few extra napkins. She almost spilled the wine on me close call. My burger was so bad that I ended up requesting pizza and even that was a nightmare she just slams it on the table and says oh iam busy now. The prices that they charge is outrageous for the quality of food they serve, on other visits I just sit at the bar and have a few beers bartender is a cool guy. I happen to notice that when I received the check wasn't charged for the three glasses of wine I drank guess shorty girl felt guilty about how she served me and decided to cut me a break. The bar is the only thing that saves this cafe and the fact there is no real competition on the block.
Food is still good but... – I used to love this place ( about 15 years ago ) but now, not so much - the food is still basically good. The service is hit or miss. But there really aren't any other diners in the heights.
Food was alright service terrible – Went there for the first time when I was in brooklyn had a lobster bisque soup, it had too much garlic and the service was terrible. The decor was nice but I wouldn't go there again, very uncomfortable seating too.
not perfect but better then other heights res – I used to go here twice a week and stopped. the managers have always been nice people known them for years unfortunately they can only do so much despite the fact that their staff comes and goes they seem to have difficulties looking for people who can handle the general public two things you dont do while people are eating sweep the floor or take out trash i saw that happen twice didnt like it now i just come on sat nights to have a drink because iam on friendly terms with management.
I dont understand the complaints! – I have lived in Brooklyn for almost a year now and Heights Cafe is a local haunt for me and my boyfriend. We like to just sit at the bar, but occasionally we will take a table. I am not quite sure why people say that the service is horrible, either. Our servers tend to be attentive, but also not stalking us, which is good. I have in fact never had a problem with the service there. The management has always been present and friendly as well. Add good American food to the list and its easy to see why locals hang out there so often. The only drawback is that they don't take visa cards. Hate walking to the ATM to pay.
Bland – With a terrific location and a ton of outdoor seating, this place should be great. Unfortunately, it's consistently boring and overpriced fare has chased me away. The veggie burger is actually awful, and the service is often distracted. Just stop here for a drink - eat elsewhere.
delightful lunch – I met a few friends at heights cafe last week. We sat on the patio, a lovely atmosphere overlooking montague street. Not only was the service prompt but also friendly. I was recommended by one of my friends to have the mozzarella sandwich. For someone who is not an eggplant fan I was shocked at how delicious it was. I will definatley be going back soon.
great atmosphere, great food – I'm new to the area and in wandering the neighborhood came across Heights Cafe. I was genuinely surprised by the kind of food and atmosphere that this place provides. Surprised in a good way though. The menu is fantastic a wide range of choices and it was all great. Really great, we definitely got what we paid for. It was a really quiet place to sit outside and enjoy the evening. The service was fantastic, and the managers were both present and helping out the staff. This is not something I have seen in most restaurants. Needless to say we had a great experience and went back for Saturday brunch, which was just as good, but not as crowded as the typical Sunday brunch. It's the kind of place you want to go and spend your afternoon watching people, enjoying good food and great service. I would reccomend it to anyone.
What a disaster! Where is the manager?? – It took at least 5 minutes for us to be seen and receive menus, versus the immediate service most restaurants offer today.
3 different people attempted to take our order. There was mighty confusion amongst the staff.
I noticed there were at least 10 staff members walking around struggling to find something to do. One hispanic guy decided to start sweeping the floors with his big cleaning supplies, that is a BIG NO NO. You clean AFTER the restaurant is closed, NOT when people are sitting there eating.
Btw, there were a total of 5 customers in the whole place.
We ordered 2 wraps, please note that this was lunch when everything is supposed to run quick and smooth, and after 45 MINUTES of waiting we couldn't take it anymore and simply left.
2 of the chefs came out of the kitchen and took a break while we were still waiting for the wraps. Laughable, isn't it??
This place is clealy not being managed and we are sure NEVER to be back!
