I gave this bagel cafe a try while hanging out with my brother. There stuff is OK but not all that it will not beat bagel world or la bagel delight on Court st. The line was moving kind of slow it took a bit to finally be able to eat.
I had two visits here tried to give it a chance but for a bagel cafe there stuff didn't phase me, neither did there bagels or there staff did not appear friendly wont be back.
They are very pricy for a bagel store.
Can never compete with Court st bagels. – I came here twice the first week it opened last summer and my second visit was the week before christmas and I promise there wont be a third ever. Empire really stinks in terms of food offerings and there service. The store wasn't busy on my last visit and still took too long to get my order to go. I had to return the coffee twice it was too cold and asked for milk didn't get it or the napkins to be able to eat my bagel guess this girl behind the counter must have been sleep walking. I tried two different bagels the sesame and the raisin one and both tasted really bad the rolls they use for the bagels are stale and don't work. If iam visiting the heights next time will go to Court st bagels instead because this place is a bad bagel store and its kept dirty seen garbage all over the floor when I asked to use the ladies room and water as well.
89 cents bagel special didn't cut it for me still a dump – I saw alot of signs for specials for the bagels and other things but still wasn't impressed when I came inside. The bagel had no flavor and even though the store was slow for a Sunday afternoon when I was there last weekend it still took 25 min to get my order. I have friends who have been to empire when it first opened last summer and said it was high priced at one point guess the price slashing was just an attempt to get people in and did not work. The bathroom was not clean it had water all over and almost slipped not safe.
The service is really slow and the bagels do not taste good. I would recommend bagel delight or court st bagels on court st and congress forget this place it is dirty and the bagels stink.
Empire didn't do it for me rather frequent court st bagels – I was walking along Brooklyn heights and noticed this bagel cafe kind of store thought id go in and have a bite to eat. I was not impressed with Empire, had a herb tuna salad sandwich that tasted really bland. I also was served a coffee that was really cold. It took a while to get my order the waitress was kind of slow, reminded me of this girl Kimberly m who was a server at spicy pickle a while back. Empire is also dirty saw a few roaches crawling around my table. I ordered a sesame bagel with cream cheese instead I get butter had to get it changed and the coffee as well that even took a while. The bill came and it cost me $12 bucks felt like I ate at a diner not a bagel cafe wont be back bland food and service. Court st bagels on Congress st is the place to get a bagel everyone should go there every morning.
gave it a try left a sour taste in my mouth – I gave Empire a chance the week before Christmas and quite frankly wasn't pleased. I had the presto chicken panini really tiny thing cost me $9.00 a sesame bagel with butter toasted and a small coffee in which the cashier charged me $2.00 altogether its almost as though I ate in a diner instead of a bagel store these prices are astronomical to say the least. The young lady behind the counter was kind of slow and rude there were only three people in front of me and she took forever. I asked is my order coming she says just wait for it. I will stick to Montague st for bagels from now on Empire just didn't do it for me.
A travesty for breakfast and lunch. – I made two visits to Empire and was vastly annoyed both times. The first time was for breakfast had two eggs, home fries, bacon and a coffee. The eggs were burned and the bacon was like biting a rock. It was also ridiculously priced at $9.00. My second visit which I was inclined to make my last one had empire burger with mushrooms, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and pickles along with fries and a lemonade Snapple . The burger was way over cooked and hard to eat made shake shacks burger on Fulton st, look really iconic. My lunch with the tax came out to $14.00, a real joke and a travesty for garbage food these people charge a vast price for which I have no desire to pay anymore sorry will go someplace else.
I was not pleased – My mom and I are cafe buffs so we gave Empire a chance. The food was not that great and the store was not kept clean. It looked as though they don't sweep the place often enough see lots of messes. Iam glad the bagel stores in Carol gardens are kept in good shape.
Stale breakfast for a vast price – I arrived 2 Sundays ago for breakfast. I waited a while to get my order the store was not that busy. I ate the two eggs with turkey bacon and home fries.the server must have been a dummy told her twice forgot the coffee with my order. The eggs were soggy the bacon was too hard to chew must have been over cooked. My coffee finally came but it tasted really strong for me. It all came down to a demeaning breakfast for a vast price of $14.00. I will go somewhere else.
no place like home – It is my understanding that this is a Canada based business, unfortunately
it is no match for the bagel stores in the heights. My bagel was over toasted. I tried one of there sandwiches it tasted really raw and the service
was kind of slow. I will stick with Bagel Delight on Court street.
