Reviews for Tanoreen Caterers

This legendary appetizing store is so far from Manhattan that it's half way to South Amboy, but it's still well worth the trip: nobody does these kind of middle-eastern specialties like they do, from the vegetable mezes to the various spreads, to the amazing prepared foods.

Best Middle Eastern food New York, BYOB, – If you've never eaten here you're missing out on one of the true hidden gems in all of NYC. We regularly make the drive out to Brooklyn to eat here.

Rawia's use of spice is amazing. It enhances everything it touches yet doesn't mask the flavors of any ingredient. The salads and appetizers are amazing and I highly recommend the baba ghanouj and the eggplant napoleon. That said, you can't go wrong with anything off the appetizer menu. For appetizers everything from traditional kibbe, lamb kabob and lamb shanks to roasted cornish hens and several stuffed eggplant and sqaush dishes.

There are always specials (some that are listed on the specials menu...and [hint] some that are not) that you should go for. Ask for the signature dessert they have and order well before you're ready as it takes 20-25 minutes to prepare.

No liquor license here but BYOB is encouraged.

If you want something special or prepared slightly different, talk to Rawia as she is very accomodating to her patrons.

Corking fee – My girl-friend and I ate here on Saturday. The wait was tremendous and there is no bar-but no worries, since there is a great red bar two doors down called XO, who has quite the hottie working behind the bar.

The food was worth the wait, but they socked us with a $5 corking fee-quite the kick in the face since they don't serve their own wine, and the wait was so long.

I would go back, but probably have some more drinks at XO before to lessen the blow..either that or bring a helmet.
