I get all my friends' birthday cakes at this quirky little Italian dessert parlor that has sat on this corner since Williamsburg was Italian. It's also my spot of choice for evening snacks of beautiful marzipan and espresso. The gelato is also deliciously creamy.
WITHOUT QUESTION the BEST Italian pastries in the WORLD. I am Italian American, have lived in NYC my whole life, have been to Italy many times, and NO ONE makes better cannoli (or cake!) than Fortunato's.
best italian bakery – well my ex denis firpo senior took me to fortunato brothers bakery in 2009, he told me once you try something there your never would want to go to another bakery anywhere else again and he was right, i've been going ever since, everything is amazing and so rich in flavor
Bakery – I have been going to Fortunato Brothers for the last 4 years, one of my girlfriends introduce me to this bakery, her school is near and they get their bakery goods from there. Since then I have been a Fan. When my daughter and granddaughter came in from Texas I took them there and they fell in love with the place, especially the homemade gelato!!!!!!
I have introduced so many people to your eatery.
thank you for making my sweet tooth great.
Great Place! – I initially heard about this place from my boyfriend who said that this particular bakery had the best french style dessert popularly named "thousand leaves". I decided to order the cake despite how far away it is from my house and when I got there a very police gentleman opened the door as I walked through and all the girls in the place were super sweet. They were all very helpful and polite. Later on that night I surpised my boyfriend with his favorite cake and to my surprise this cake was so delicious. The flaky layers were crisp and perfect. The chocolate and vanilla creme fillings were devine and the chocolate shavings on top of the cake simply melted in your mouth. All in all this cake was amazing and the people were sweet. I'll be sure to go back!
The best around – Used to travel all the way back to my old neighborhood in the bronx until I found this place.
By far the best cookies and cakes around.
Great hang out, espresso, gelatti, and cakes. The best italian bakery in the hood; one of the best in NY – this is a real neighborhood hangout. I love this place. Great espresso and real Italian treats. I'm not sure what that other person was talking about regarding the gelatti, as far as NY is concerned their gelatti is pretty great. My favorite dessert is their plain large Ba ba; A rum soaked cake. So delicious. I have not tried their cakes but I will and I have a feeling it will make me very happy. Fortunato Bros. is a real Williamsburg hot spot, I feel very lucky to live three blocks away. Don't hesitate to try this place, its great.
i love it dare – i <3 fortunantos so much ever thing there is so great it da best place in da world i love there lobster tails and conoli i love it ive been going there a since iwas little i <3 fortuantos
Amazing Mango Gillato – I love this place, the mango gillato is amazing. As is the Black Forest Cake, the espresso, and the mocha cookie sandwich. The people watching is great too, stop by around 8 pm on any given night and there is always an interesting local crowd.
BEST CAKE EVER – My friend owns a shop in the area and she always gets the birthday cake there...hands down the most delicious cake ever! Real buttercream, real strawberries, real bananas (real fatty too, I'm sure) but well worth the risk. Love it.
This old-school caffe and pasticceria holds the generations of Williamsburg together with love and gelati. – In Short
The shiny black tables and chairs in this bare bones cafe are perpetually packed with teen couples, old paisanos from the 'hood and ice cream afficianados diving into some of the city's best housemade gelato. Flavors range from standards to hard-to-find Italian options, like tiramisu, hazelnut and zuppa inglese. Other temptations include spumoni, tortoni, cannoli, cookies (try the pinoli), tarts and fluffy white cakes to order.
