most pretentious and unstylish store in Brooklyn. Bird used to be a nice store...almost a decade ago...before it was sold out and then its whole style and spirit disappeared. It used to be classy and friendly. I was one of their best customers. Then, I tried to keep shopping there but the place became very messy and unstylish, the staff pretentious and unprofessional, not to mention the owner who is too important to deal with customers, especially if they have a problem with the quality of their garments (Beware: they will not take responsibility for anything that is damaged). They are very pushy and would make you buy anything...and don't even recognise you when you come back to the store. They clearly do not care about their customers. For instance, the other day, I arrived at 5.55pm at one of their stores (which was closing at 6.00) but they closed the door at me and my children. They did not have time to deal with us...even though I knew what I wanted. It is a real shame that people like that are in business. I have heard they have opened another store in Williamsburg. Good luck to them but I wish they could concentrate more on their customers.
Horrible salespeople/customer service.
Salespeople are disorganized, annoying, extremely high attitude, and ONLY nice to those rich older women who can throw $300 for a shirt.
That's the reason I don't want to shop at Bird anymore. I have no complains for the price, it's just how wholesale prices + profit works.
But If I want to check out almost same selections with same price, friendly and helpful salespeople, I would go to a lovely boutique
called Jumelle on Bedford Ave. They can give you much better shopping experience than Bird.
Top-notch service and fresh designs! I love this place!. I had a totally different experience than the last reviewer. I loved this store! I thought the salespeople were totally helpful and really knew their stuff. I was impressed with the suggestions that were made to me and didn't feel that they were pushy at all, only helpful. Plus the clothes are gorgeous, if only for the slender (or slender at heart). And oh, the shoes! Mein Got!
Great Jeans. I love this store. Definitely pricey, but one of the only places you can find clothes like this in the area. Great selection of jeans and talented buyers make a unique mix of pieces to choose from. I come back everytime I need something special.
Editorial Review. Brooklyn boutique carries hot labels such as 3.1 Phillip Lim, A.P.C., Vena Cava, See by Chloe and more.
Cute stuff but obcenely $$. Pushy salespeople.
This place has really cute stuff but whenver I go in, the saleswomen (maybe the owner-not sure...) are really pushy like "hey, if you're here, why not just throw in another $300 purchase...."
This place is obscenely expensive. $90 t-shirts? and of course, the "sale items" wow! 50% off! It's only $200 now! what a deal
What's with the attitude?. Used to be my favorite store and by far the best boutique in Brooklyn. But since new management (as of maybe two years ago?), the shopping experience has become significantly less pleasant. Quality is poor, selection is limited, and the customer service is atrocious - actually had one saleswoman laugh in my face when I inquired about a return. If you want outrageously overpriced clothing and bad attitudes, I'd recommend you stick to Manhattan. Brooklyn has better to offer elsewhere.
bird is the word. i've been shopping here since they were a half vintage/bird only designed clothing store...since i walk by their window twice a day, i can't help but always go inside. i would have to say that 90% of the time i go in, i always come out with two shoppingbags, whether i can afford it or not. belle and marla are amazing, and always find the greatest most unique pieces of clothing ive seen in nyc.
