Minhs is one of the few places in my neighborhood that works on Mercedes. They are a small family business so I don't expect to be pampered like going to the dealer but for the savings in cost and convenience of having someone local , Minhs is certainly more preferable for me. Service was smooth sailing and very transparent. Will be returning.
Avoid this place like the plague. They’re very expensive. The prices are comparable to the dealerships. Their shop is clean but you only pay for the cleanliness. They speak nice and are friendly but you pay only for their friendliness. Too many service advisors/writers and they work on commission.
Cartalk saved my car from the constant abuse. I've been overly depressed with repeated visit to the Audi dealer in Brooklyn. After trying out Minh's I am very impressed with their customer service and their appreciation for my business. Great staff and service.
Great Mechanics. – Look...nobody likes it when their sled breaks down or needs professional work. But, when it does happen, Minhs Auto really does provide a great combination of superior workmanship, competitive pricing, and compassion. This is a rare combination when it comes to the auto repair industry. These guys work on most european cars. I bring my Audi A4 here and I recommend them highly.
Done deal. – So after my experience here, all's I can say is....wow. 40 bucks to get new brackets attached to my exhaust system and stop that annoying clankity-clank I was listening to. I said, $40 including labor? Yep, they said. I said, what about the last mechanic that told me my whole exhaust system would need to be replaced because of this? They lied, he said. Wow...
$40 barely gets you an oil change these days, and I got an honest answer and a problem quickly fixed. Awesome.
My new mechanic – As a woman I've always been a little weary of taking my car to get looked at in fear of being taken advantage of. (i.e. There's a tiny mythological creature in your exhaust) Anyone? This is the first time my bmw has given me problems ... Anyway. I called early in the week and made an appt. for that Friday. I was greeted by Vinny who was very friendly and they immediately started looking at my car while I waited. I was there for 15-20 mins when Vinny explained to me that my water pump was leaking and I was lucky it hadn't caused any extensive damage. Not only did they not charge me to diagnose my problem (like all these big dealerships usually do) but Vinny took it upon himself to find out if my powertrain warranty covered this problem over to the second owner. It did! So I took my car to the dealership and the problem was fixed that day. For free. Awesome.
Highly recommend!! – When I first bought my 2001 PT Cruiser (in 2003, so it's used), I went to Strauss on 4th Avenue. OMG, the wait. Every time I went there, I could plan on 4-5 hours of waiting, and it never made sense. Just disorganized and mismanaged, although the mechanics are fine. Anyway, I decided to give MINHS Auto Care a chance, and plan to stay with them. From the first call (to Adam) to make the appointment, to bringing the car in, it's a very professional operation. They give me a realistic time frame and I usually wait at the Dunkin' Donuts down the street. I haven't had any major problems with the car, but go there for the annual emissions test (takes at best, 45 minutes and I'm out of there). Best to make an appointment before heading over, of course. And I also bring the car in before my annual trip to visit family (1200 miles roundtrip). They've never overcharged me, or scared me into spending ridiculous sums of money for unnecessary repairs. And a couple of times, I've dropped by to check the pressure on my tires. They've been very accommodating and never charged for that. Just an all around nice place and I highly recommend them.
Overcharges, As Expensive as VW Dealer – When I recently got my ignition coil replaced, Minh's charged me as much as the VW dealer, which is notorious for overpricing. When I asked Vinnie, the mechanic at Minh's he said that the VW dealers always overcharge. When I told him he was charging me as much as them (only $4 less on a $500 job) he just stared at me and said nothing. If you are going to pay this much, you might as well pay for the quality and guarantee of a dealer.
Simply the best – I had my Honda in to the dealer for a recalled airbag, of all things, and they took the liberty of finding $1800 worth of suspension and front-end work in the meantime. Minh's found the *exact same problems*, fixed them for *1/3 the price* (including tune-up, oil change, etc), and got it back to me in one day instead of two. What more can I say? Best shop ever. I'm a customer for life.
