Nice place except for a few issues.... BAM is a decent place to catch a flick! If not for a few cleanliness issues, I would have given it 4 stars.

A Sticky Situation. Popcorn good, movie great, friendly people and then I got stuck to something on the floor. Don't know what it was but it was sticky enough to need to use some minor muscles to remove my foot and, even then, it tried to keep my shoe!

Great movie theater. Although not in my favorite location, the theater is very comfortable and the movie selection is excellent.

Great Theatre. Great selection of art house and indie films. Nice stadium seating in old-fashion style. Not to mention they screen Sundance films before they are released and they have filmmakers and actors come talk about the filming.

Dirty Bathrooms. BAM Rose Cinema has some of the dirtiest bathrooms in Brooklyn -- worse than any other local movie theatre. Innocent victims must be mindful of stepping into nasty things on the way in. On the way out, innocent victims will NOT find hot water, soap, or paper towels.

Its ironic that a cinema that screens a variety of intellectual, sophisticated films and hosts prestigious lectures would allow itself to have dirty bathrooms.

For the price of a movie ticket, you would think BAM Rose Cinema cold clean its bathrooms.

best place to see a film in the city. BAM is the best place in the city to see a film. The films start on time, you're not subjected to 20 minutes of commercials, interesting and varied films are on offer, the popcorn is good, the building is beautiful, the theaters are modern and the staff does a good job. My only complaint is that there is very little leg room.

A godsend for Brooklynites, offering both first-run art-house fare and repertory screenings.. The Scene
BAM's movie house offers four moderately sized screens with clean, comfortable seats. Don't let the outer-borough address fool you: Just a couple of blocks away from four different subway lines, it's more accessible than many Manhattan theaters. Staff is friendly, and clientele mostly well-mannered film buffs and young local families. Though the concession stand doesn't offer much beyond usual movie fare, you can always pop upstairs to the BAMcafe for a drink and snack before or after the film.

The Draw
It's rarely overcrowded, but if more people knew about BAM Rose's innovative programming and comfortable theaters, it would surely be packed. The first-run screens offer both art-house and wider-release movies, though the chances of seeing "Mission: Impossible 2" here are slim. The terrific BAM Cinematheque programming covers everybody from Robert Altman to Kurt Weill, with frequent film festivals and numerous Q&As with critics and directors.

Like stepping into the past. Everytime I come here, I feel like I'm the leading lady in a 1940s film because the decor is so beautiful. Though most of the facilities are old, they are very well maintained and very nice.

The movies theatres have beautiful ceilings (and the movies cost less than most theatres), the main concert hall has exceptionally plushy seats and is intricatly beautiful in an early 1900s fashion, and the coffee area upstairs is set in a beautiful modern room with HIGH ceilings. I also have seen that they have some sort of $25-30 deal where you can get dinner and a movie. Definitely a great place to have an evening!
