YUMMMMMMMMMMMM..... – Fresh. Friendly. Consistent. You can't go wrong. I have been eating here for years and have NEVER had a bad meal.

[ this one person who gave it a bad review might prefer fast food? I like how they mention the "Hispanics" in the kitchen. What is THAT supposed to mean? ]

DELIGHTFUL and DELISH!

Truly Horrible Food. – The vanderbuilt location was a tremendous disappointment. 1 poor waiter serving a full restaurant. Hard, overcooked, almost black, old falafels, the cucumber yogurt so salty you couldn't eat it, the rice was cold, yes cold! And the salad was very boring and make with out any care (despite 5 hispanics working in the kitchen, but hey maybe thats why) What a waste of money!! Yuck!

Best Street Brooklyn Blogspot – beststreetbrooklyn.blogspot

One of my favorite things about Middle Eastern restaurants is that

they tend to be BYOB, a plus for any New Yorker on a budget. With a

six pack in hand to split with my dining companion, this Zaytoons in

Carroll Gardens was already a step ahead of the game (note that

Zaytoons on Smith & Sackett is BYOB while its sister restaurant on

Vanderbilt in Prospect Heights is not, once again proving that Smith

Street = Best Street).

worth the wait – I had the best dinner last night @ Zaytoons. Friends and I had to wait only 10 mins for a table, but the food came out in ten mins also. We ordered a meze plate of 5 different salads. Cucumber yogurt was creamy and the grape leaves were tasty. Individual pizzas made it easy to share and experience different tastes. The staff was so great. The waitress was very busy so she forgot our water but we didn't mind too much since it was byob. I will go back and plan on sitting outside next time its warmer.

Nastiest Staff Ever – Here's a letter I emailed from the Zaytoons website, and never heard a reply:

We've placed MANY orders from your restaurant, and today would be the last attempt to do so. Just now, I attempted to place an order with one of your employees who was taking the order on the phone. After a misunderstanding (on his part), he proceeded to yell at me on the phone, as I tried to get my co-worker to decide what he wanted on his platter.

I told him there was no need to yell and he responded by telling me that there were others on the line he needed to speak to. I told him calmly that I would no longer be ordering, and hung up. He then called me and asked why I 'just hung up' on him. After letting him know that it was not the case and that I'd hung up after not being happy with the treatment I was getting from him, he simply hung up on me.

I called back and asked to speak to the manager, and of course was told he was 'not around today'. I find that hard to believe, but I expected that response. Let me just reiterate, that I was calm throughout and never rude to your employee - he had no need to be so vile to me. I hope to receive some sort of response from you, but at least wanted to let you know. We are avid fans and friends of restaurateurs in the area, and are no longer customers of Zaytoons.

good food, rude service – We got food to go at Zaytoons the other night and the food was fine but the person that took our order at the counter was so rude I'll never go back. He spoke to us rudely, kept interrupting us, and then once our bag was packed, let it sit on the counter in front of us for 5 minutes before telling us it was ours (knowing full well we were standing there the entire time). There are plenty of other great places to eat Middle Eastern food in Brooklyn so there is no reason to support a place that treats customers so poorly.

excellent digs – This place is tiny, so it's much easier to go during the warmer months when you can sit outside. The food is consistently amazing and in large quantity. Leg of lamb is the best dish and without bothering with appetizers, will leave anyone full. No alcohol.
