Reviews for Anthony's

Always accomodating from a to z – I just read a review by another customer that was wayyyyyy off mark for this place (by ranii). My husband and I, as well as friends and family are regulars of this wonderful establishment. We come from Astoria and we have family that travel from Marlboro and Yonkers,NY to enjoy the wonderful food and treatment we get here. To imply that the employees were awkward towards them possibly due to the fact that they were Indian is disgusting. The owners and staff treat everyone with equal politeness. Maybe those other customers were not very polite to the staff. The restaurant is always accomodating in regards to special requests. If they have the means to make what you ask for, they will. The food is exceptional when it comes to flavor-maybe the person posting that other review has no taste buds and therefore needed a whole shaker of salt for PASTA! I have met many customers over the years that we have been going there and to imply on another note that the "people that dined there seemed to be quite pompous" is insulting. We happened to be there the night that "ranii" is referring to, Valentine's Day. There was a special menu with a wide variety of fish, pasta and meat. The place was extremely busy and the staff was working hard at pleasing everyone. A dessert tray is always brought to the table when the waiter is given the chance to ask if you would like dessert. As Ranii stated, she asked for the check immediately, therefore before the waiter had a chance to bring over the tray. By the way, most desserts are homemade and out of this world. If you ask for your check, the dessert tray isn't going to be brought to the table. This being a restaurant and not a diner, there is no cashier, you pay your waiter. The woman that is there is the manager and she along with the staff are always friendly and work the entire restaurant. Please, people, try this wonderful place yourself. Don't go by someone else's opinion, judge for yourself. Enjoy!!!

Avoid. Terrible Service. Disrespecful. – For Valentines Day my boyfriend made reservations for dinner. As soon as we got there was a sense of awkwardness directed towards me and my boyfriend (keep in mind we are Indian). It took the man in charge more than half an hour to come to us with our drinks and another half an hour to get the menu. So, he comes out with the menu, the Valentines Day "Specials", everything on the menu had meat in it, we let him know that both of us were vegetarians and if it was possible to be able to order something else. He answers, "I'm sorry that is all we are serving today." I do not understand, is it not his job as the owner or whoever he is make sure he accommodate to our request? I felt like I was being disrespected. Then, after an awkward minute with him, he just shrugs his shoulders and says ok fine whatever you want you tell me Ill have it made, my boyfriend & I just looked at each other like he gave us some random names of pasta and we agreed to two of them. The food was mediocre, nothing special at all. I dumped the whole bottle of salt into my pasta. We noticed the same man ignore us every time he came around us. It was a local restaurant so everyone in there was a local, we noticed he was paying special attention to them and giving them priority. He went around asking everyone how their food was and totally skipped us. At the end after they took away our plates we asked for our check immediately we didnt want to stay a moment longer. It took the bill over ONE HOUR to come, during that one hour other people who came in AFTER us got their check & already left. ONE HOUR for our check?!!?! By the way, I noticed after every time a table finished their meal, the man in charge brought around a big platter of deserts, he did not come to us with it. Finally, fed up with this place we got up on our own & went to the cashier & she was not even there. We ended up asking the chef for our bill! We left NO tip. I warn everyone about this place & to stay away from it.

dancersmom – Anthony's Restaurant is a diamond among Italian eateries. To say that the food is excellent would be an understatement. Fresh flowers adorn every table and there is a piano player Thursday evening to Saturday evening. The well trained and informative staff make the dining room work like clockwork. Prices are comparitive to other area Restaurants, not to mention the Prix Fix and Early Bird menues. The chef/owner takes the time to talk to his cutomers to make sure all is enjoyed. I have been to this establishment numerous times, and have enjoyed it each and everytime.
