Not real content. Took a 1975 BMW in
for service and had a new carburetor installed. When I received the car from them it ran so poorly I made it 1/2 block then backed up and took it in again.
Second time I picked it up it ran slightly better. It was late when I left the shop by the time I made it around the block they had closed and locked their doors. The poor can ran so poor that I couldn't drive it on a regular basis. Took it to Crown Hill Automotive. When I picked it up a couple of hours later it ran very smooth. When I asked what the problem had been they said the Eurocar Service mechanic had installed the new carburetor and it's new gaskets directly on top of the old gasket and it had created an air leak. Crown Hill removed the old gasket and the thing worked fine.
I've never gone back to Eurocar Service.
We had a better than expected
experience at EuroCar Service.
We had taken our car to another mechanic for a major repair that failed. Euro Car was recommended to us and had to "redo" what the other shop had done poorly. The service was excellent, Michael kept us informed as the job progressed, and the shop went out of their way to save us money.
Being a business owner, I HIGHLY recommend EuroCar Service and a big thanks to all the employees!
This shop is not trustworthy at all,
and their receptionist/ order taker (Michael) is not particularly friendly, a little condescending and not very knowledgeable. When I took my car in, I asked if they gave free estimates, and Michael was flippant, saying, "Well, I can give you an estimate over the phone without even looking at the car, but it isn't worth anything until we take a look at it." I responded that I already knew that the emergency brake cable was having problems and asked how much it would be "to take a look at it." Michael retorted that it would be at least half an hour and $52 (they charge $104 per hour for labor). So fine, your estimates cost $52 at a minimum. Like a sucker, I gave them permission to poke around.
Not 15 minutes later they had a diagnosis: The brake cable was bad (thanks, Sherlock). They told me it would be a total of $224 to fix it, and that I already owed them $59 of that for their estimate $52+$5 tax and $2 in BS "shop supplies." Um, thanks, but no thanks.??As offensive as a $59 charge for an estimate is, this was not the worst of the worst. When I went in to the shop, my emergency brake was not activating the rear, passenger-side wheel. However, when I left the shop, they left the emergency brake locked-on regardless of the e-brake handle being down in the "off" position... and they did not tell me about this. So as I drove home, the right, rear wheel's brake was essentially dragging against the pads and rotor. Had I driven for more than I did, it is likely that serious damage would have resulted, and EuroCar Service didn't even bother to mention this problem to me. It leaves me to wonder if they purposefully neglected this in order to "pay me back" for not letting them charge me the full $224 to fix the problem. This shop is a disaster.
Bottom line: These guys are rude, reckless and charge too much. I won't be back.
Epilogue: After getting the part on-line ($18), it took me 0:45 to fix it myself.
The Big Disappointment. I have been going to this place for about 4 years. These guys are expensive, but I had always felt that the work was damn good (and it actually is) and that the staff were honest. A recent experience, however, has left a real bad taste. I went to these guys to find and fix a specific problem with my car. The type of issue that I had encountered with the car is a tricky problem, so I wasn't suprised when they couldn't find the cause. However, I was surprised to hear about over $2000 worth of work recommended for the car, ranging from the important, potentially dangerous to the mundane. This was surprising since my car had been running extremely well for over 2.5 years. The important repair that I was considering having these guys fix was quoted at well over a thousand dollars for what turned out to be thirty dollar part and half-an-hour worth of labor. So although I still trust the quality of their work, it appears you can't trust the staff.
Editorial Review. Large garage with ASA Certified technicians specializes in European autos, provides factory scheduled maintenance, smog checks and general repairs.
2000 Jetta. I highly recommend this shop. We took our 2000 VW Jetta in for a major service, and had a great experience. The staff was extremely helpful, and patient when explaining the repairs that were needed. The costs of the repairs came to exactly what the estimate was for. I have definitely found a shop that I will continue to take my car to.
